Try to focus your awareness away from the body.  You may be trying to let go of the body while focusing on it at the same time, causing the thalamus and frontal lobes to struggle in processing sensory information while the muscles hesitantly and strenuously twitch around the areas that you mentioned.

On the other hand, it's funny that you mention that because it could have something to do with the parietal lobe (involved in sensory input and body orientation including visuospatial processing).  My mother has been experiencing eye twitches ever since she fell backwards from a 14 ft ladder and hit her head.  She is lucky to be alive.  You haven't had any head injuries lately, have you?

Look at these connections that cover the parietal lobe and go straight to the eyes, they are known as the postcentral gyrus:

Because the postcentral gyrus is linked to somatic sensations as well as proprioception, it could be that you have an over-active one and it may be hindering your attempts to connect with the spiritual.  My advice is to use the deferred method when attempting to enter the Phase.

Good.  Try induction after napping/sleeping first.  When you wake up, you will be primed for an exit from the body.  Start by relaxing.  Your body will be dying to fall asleep while your mind should be focused on something of a mental nature (forget the body and it's sensations).
