Hey all, I was trying to AP last night, all the usual things happened after a while and at some point or another I just had this feeling that I was about to get free, when suddenly a sense of dread just came over me, something told me that if I went through with it my body would die and I would be trapped on the AP plane. I guess I just find it frustrating because of how long ive been trying without success, and i thought I'd gotten over that fear of leaving the body. Has this happened to anyone else before? Suggestions?

I know this seems arbitrary, but you just have to ignore that feeling.  That's it.  Once you successfully do it, it's very likely you will never feel that same fear again.  You will be to blown away and smiling huge from the experience afterwards.  I was!

Hello Eloquence,

I was terrified the first time I came close to projecting. I even cried for help! Of course no one could hear me because it was my astral body that was shouting ;) But like astral_neophyte explains, after having projected a few times, the fear went away. I believe the astral is scary because it is unknown to us. Once it feels more familiar, it's not as frightening anymore.

I had the lights on in my room, because that made me feel safer. Sometimes I even had the TV on. Maybe you could try the same? Anything that makes you feel more secure is good :)

Keep up the good work. You're very cose!

Like Astral_neophyte says, you just have to ignore the fear and do it anyway.  I think it's so fearful at first because of the sensations which can be a little lonely and leave you feeling pretty insecure, but after you do it a few times, the fear gets replaced with excitement and joy of the adventure that lies ahead.  One thing that might help you is to just be sure that each time you attempt a projection, you must phyche yourself up, kind of like cheerleaders before a football game.  Rah rah team, let's project NOW!
