I still don't understand the point of astral projection, I understand what it is I just don't understand it's usefulness. I experience AP about twice a month, how can I experience it everyday? Is it possible to experience it everyday? How can it change my life? Can someone inspire me to go back to AP, I lost my interest in it? Maybe a short fascinating experience you had or something like that. I need to understand why I should practice AP before I continue or else I would be playing myself or be wasting time.

You surprise me wow!AP is the thing that gives you ultimate freedom from the restrictions of the physical body/world!The only other thing is death, but I'm sure that AP is much more fun than death, because you can travel between 2 worlds and get the most fun of both! is that enough of a stimul to get you back on the track? :-P

The only thing I can tell you regarding you getting your interest back is that my friend had been into all things OOBE/AP etc for many years before we met (about 5 years ago now) and he had lost interest in it all. He'd got all the books and had several AP's and many LD's but had not been into it until earlier this year when he spoke to me about it. Now he never knew that I'd be interested in it but I am and coz I showed an interest in it its awakened his interest and he's had his first OOBE's because of it. His interest is kept going coz we speak about it all on a daily basis, encouraging each other and solving queries with anything we have. So, maybe its worth you doing the same as he did, find someone who can share your views, interest and you never know it could work for you too.

Take care

Wow...

Look at this page.  It shows a list of benefits which are available if people practice inducing this phenomenon:
http://obe4u.com/?page_id=10

The list is incomplete and I may have discovered another benefit with my latest experiement ("Spinning Dice").  You would be a fool to just give up on it.

If you don't see the point, then are you really projecting or just dreaming?

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I see no difference.

To answer the original question though...
Astral Projection by itself can be as spiritually fulfilling or super boring depending entirely upon your perspective.

It's also just one aspect of our non-physical side.

You should be asking yourself what the point to astral projection is.

Why I want to learn how to do it:

1) So I can know my own mind better.  Dreams are basically one's own mind experienced objectively and if I can learn to always be conscious during them I can learn more about my own subconscious mind and resolve all kinds of issues.

2) I want to learn how to shift the experience to the real time zone for a few reasons.  I've accidentally verified a rtz experience for myself before so I know it's real.  One reason I want to be able to do it consistently is because my family lives in the US and my girlfriend lives in Hong Kong.  I'm in HK right now and would love to be able to visit my family in the rtz, and to visit my girlfriend when I'm in the US.  Also, there are other more personal gain involved reasons for wanting to be the proverbial fly on the wall at any place.

3) I want a more effective way to do energy work on myself.

4) I want to find out if I have any spirit guides, and if so talk with them.

5) It's pretty darn fun to fly.

I didn't entirely lose interest in AP, if I was I wouldn't be here asking questions or even buy a book about it. I used to meditate for 2 hours or less a day with a purpose to experience AP only. I never had a satisfying result and it seems hard to achieve AP at any time, and if I do get one its hard to keep it for as long as I want. Most of my experiences are short, unclear, and scary. I'm not into it, because I'm not good at it, and I'm not getting where I want with it. None of my friends, family, or relatives know anything about AP. Pretty much I stopped meditating and listening to binaural beats, I just go to sleep with a goal in mind to experience AP, sometimes I get one, sometimes I don't. If I can experience AP at least 4 times a week and for 10 minutes or less, it would be really satisfying. I just can't wait for one month just to experience a 1 minute of horror. I hope those are real and possible in the link you provided Summerlander.

1:Performing complex mental calculations and solving various problems.
2:Discovering unusual capabilities in oneself.
3:Obtaining information about life, oneself, one's surroundings, and other people.
4:Studying all possible subject-matters and learning skills, including foreign languages.
5:Visiting any place in the universe (simulated).

Thanks for the replies.!

Those were some of the benefits of AP as stated in this website, and those are what I'm interested in.

the point is to better yourslef.. after you get done playing first. that can take along time haha.. its a great way to gain understanding and information. and you may ask waht info.. well any ingo you want to know.. but it may be hard to remember all of it.. but most people just use it as a play time..
is it bad when your dreams are better than real life!

I would imagine the point of AP is probably only limited by one's own imagination, understanding, energy and skill.. For me I just love the sensation of my energetic/astral body especially at separation.. Learning to project longer may just be a matter of gaining further awareness and energy.. Energy wise to maintain projections your physical body needs sufficient energy so YOU don't fall asleep and you also require sufficient energy in your astral (practice energy exercises like N.E.W. - Robert Bruce or age old Taoist meditation practices could be useful for this)..

Remember the easiest time to project is straight after a protection.. You can go back to your body and re-project to extend your experiences (works possibly by gaining energy from somewhere?).. On one of my most successful mornings I must have done this 5 or 6 times, the later ones were the longest..

From the sounds of it you have an idea in your mind about the length and quality of experiences you should be having.. Let that go & accept and be grateful for where you are at.. Even seasoned AP'ers may only project twice a week.. If I could regularly project twice a week I'd be stoked :-D.. Go easy on yourself, twice a month is good success.. you sound as if you are doing great.. Continue reading and practising and you can learn tricks that can help you extend your projections..

In regard to scary experiences.. I've only had a handful and don't focus on them at all.. Maybe someone else could help with this..

As for a reason to AP.. Ryan is right, you need to find your own reasons for AP'ing.. and these reasons may change with time..

Peace,
Dean

Most of my experiences are short, unclear, and scary. I'm not into it, because I'm not good at it, and I'm not getting where I want with it.

You can prolong them, make them hyper-real and you can have total control.  This is where the deepening and maintaining techniques come in.  You can totally become good at it and it is simpler than you think when you have the confidence that you will get the results that you want.  I seriously recommend that you download School of Out of Body Travel or at least have a look at the OBE4u Youtube videos on how to manage the Phase.

I know the techniques work and I am still researching what works in the Phase.  I'll be conducting experiments with a group of volunteers pretty soon (part of the OOBE Research Centre work) and results will be published.  Anyone can get good at it.  Trust me!

Jarrod

I'll volunteer for OBE relates stuff Summerlander, if there's a need for people who can't do it at will yet...:) Haha

Hey man, I'm not exactly an expert at all on AP, but I've been getting really into it for the past few weeks or so, and I've had my first few AP's in the past couple days. One problem you might have is timing. You said you go to sleep with the goal of AP, what I've been doing, and what has been working is setting an alarm for around 4 hours or so after I fall asleep, waking up, using the bathroom, maybe grabbing some water or a bite to eat, then going back to bed. My body starts yelling at me at how tired it is, so that's when I go back to bed, and then it falls asleep quite quickly, and I'm left with an AP. Or if i don't I just say to myself, oh well, lets just fall asleep. I'll usually wake up at another time in the morning from natural causes, and then I just try to not move so my body falls back asleep quickly again. Its much easier to AP in the morning than at night from my experience, and from many others. As for having short, scary experiences, well I think a lot of that is mindset. For one, if its scary, I dont want to be in it, so it would be short. Try to relax, and know everything that happens will be good, a good mindset going in will help to have a good experience, try not to get too frustrated or caught up in the fact you've had bad experiences before, remove those from your mind and I think you'll find yourself having much better AP's. I can't say how many you'll have a week or for how long, but the more you practice the more likely you'll have more, and the longer they'll be. Also, I know if youre beginning to fade away from a dream you can spin in place and it helps you remain in the dream. Something about your mind focusing on your non physical senses and balance rather than you physical senses makes you remain in the dream. Idk if this happens with AP's as well, but it's worth a shot. Good luck man, I hope you reignite your interest in the matter, for me, the few weeks of waiting was well paid off in the past couple days.

wow

I have to say that the comments and feedback helped charge me up, and even If I don't get too many OBEs at least I will enjoy an hour of meditating daily. Thank you guys ..!
