Title: What the heck happened to me?
Post by: PlasmaAstralProjection on November 25, 2010, 14:57:43
I must first say to keep my experience from any preconceived notions that I am in very bad state physically, but stable. I take 5-HTP, Taurine, and melatonin at night. These 3 have helped my dreams and have given me more lucid dreams. I have been taking some sub-lingual vitamin supplements that have been causing some snapping in my mouth and throat. I guess it's breaking down the proteins there or something. So I am resorting to cutting down the dose and just swallowing it instead of doing them sub-lingually.
OK so this morning I was trying to sleep. I was kind of dehydrated. I was conscious but almost in a dream state. Then I hear this lead up sound to a big snap or bang in my head. I felt a vibration of it go throughout my whole head. If I were to guess what the physical cause was it seemed like a band of tight muscle or fiber just broke in my head. All I physically felt was a maybe little discomfort afterward. I was much more startled than anything. It seemed to have happened right in the middle of my head. It was more of a sound then a vibration than anything. I know that you can have these types of experiences if you are trying to AP. I have never been able to AP. Maybe came close though. I seemed to awake to be able to AP and make those sounds. Any thoughts you guys?

My first reaction is... Hypnogogic sound.
These can range from, well... anything to EVERYTHING!  LOL

You can hear these sometimes even if you're just trying to fall asleep at night.

I've literally heard things like gunshots, explosions, heavy objects hitting the floor, front door knocking... they can be anything.
I knew at the time they weren't real because my gf sleeping next to me never moved a muscle.

The "shock" part comes in when you're really relaxed and you hear one of these sounds.  It might not be a scary sound, but you might be pretty relaxed and that tends to amplify that sound to shocking levels.  So much so, that you can actually see a flash of white before your eyes when it happens.

Try that out... get into a very relaxed state... then get someone to lightly bang some pots nearby you at some random interval, then witness the white flash you see.  :)

Wow, well thanks guys. I am glad that it's not physical. Cause I was thinking that if it was physical there would be something really wrong with me. The whole brain is so important that if something that loud went off in my head I would be dead or in the hospital by now.

I do have one more question though. In hypnagogic sound and imagery am I close to an OBE? Thanks for your responses.

I did some research and found that it's called "Exploding head syndrome" At wiki they say. Quote "These loud noises are a common feature of out-of-body experiences. In surveys, as many as 85% of respondents indicate perception of them during the onset of such experiences" Interesting! Further comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Very close!
Just keep doing whatever it was you were doing at the time.  :)

Yes, for all of my experiences with RTZ OBEs I have heard an extreme roaring sound up until I "click" to non-physical focus.  The first time I nearly excrement myself it was far louder than I expected!

I too had a snap in my chest the other night as I exited but the shock of it snapped me back into my body.
It fely like my heart chakra disconnecting or something and didn't feel very nice.
