Could be your Etheric body. Bruce says that when we sleep at night it expands and floats up above the physical body a few feet. I have woken up several times during the night before in this state.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Most likely it's your brain waves falling into alpha ( from beta ). You want that! That's the beginning of trace state. Keep
tinkering with that land of borderline sleep/awake state. When you achieve trance you might not know where you are laying in
the room, you might feel as though you're in a different house while in trace ( a previous residence ). This disorientation ( the
type you described ) should be willfully maintained until you've reached a deeper level of trace or body asleep mind awake
state. You might wonder to yourself exactly "where am I?". It feels like your not even in bed. And this is normal, don't bring
your consciousness back to your bodies location or you'll break trance if your not deep enough.

Hope that helps

How are you supposed to stay in that state though? As soon as I hit it I get a disorienting falling sensation as my thoughts all of a sudden start becoming random and unstructured, and this jolts me back into normal thinking.

I can keep making myself drift in and out of that gap of consciousness, but I can't voluntarily stay in it, becuase it's like, how are you supposed to stay focused? If you stay focused, you go back into normal thinking... if you don't, you fall asleep or your mind isn't working right.

Somehow you have to snap yourself out RIGHT before you completely fall asleep so you're like in deep alpha or something so deep that thinking normally doesn't bring you out of it... which I have no idea how you're suppsed to do.

Maybe set an alarm clock for about 30 minutes after I think I'm going to fall asleep? But then I'm too tired by the time I have a vague idea of when I'll go to sleep.

Getting in a trance is very difficult. During the day I have the same problem of falling alseep... or not even being able to hit the consciousness gap.

I would like to reply to the last post.

Energy is your problem. You need more of it.
Sex is an EXCELLENT way of obtaining vital
energy directly from someone else's etheric body.
There is technique behind attaining etheric energy
by way of sex. I would like to explain more in depth
although I'm afraid of offending readers with info they
may not be ready to hear.

Hope that helps

hah, getting some would help me project better?

I'm a notoriously self proclaimed virgin I'm afraid.... and I'm not sure I see that changing in the near future.... unless I feel ambitious at the A Perfect Circle show next week.

I'm not sure cheap sex with a potentially disease ridden girl is the kind I'm looking for though.... but you have me intruiged..

Does the "energy" stay with you for a long time?

On average energy obtained from sex peeks within 3 days and then slowly wares off within 2 weeks.

Make sure your partner is disease free.

Oh, by the way men are more potent. There is technique regarding obtaining etheric energy from women. Think about it for a while.

You could try raising and stimulating your chakras, im pretty sure that'd increase the energy you need.

Above all else it's practice.

I think RB said something along the lines of you need to excercise you mental muscles just like a real muscle. (Im sure thats a terrible mis-quote but it has the same gist).
