Helo everyone,
I am an 18 year old male. A few days ago I experienced what i have come to learn of as OBE. Experiencing this, I was in a state of confusion and amazement as to what I have learned on the internet. Being a person who would have laughed or thought of others as attention seekers if ever they had told me they could do anything supernatural, I am afraid as well as embarrassed to tell anyone about what I experienced. I am what one would call rather skeptical but more than anything, rational. Uneducated about such phenomenon, I decided to post my thoughts here.
Since a little kid, I always had a great imagination. During long trips, I would sit in the back of the car with my eyes closed and just imagine. I would imagine about what almost any kid would imagine, being a knight in shining armor or perhaps a superhero. My English teachers would tell me that I had problems with my grammar but my stories were always full of ideas. Later on in my life, I encountered the most terrible nightmare I had ever experienced, so scary that it is hard to explain in words. It was during one of my vacations as a kid, my parents had awoken from sleep to the screeching yells of their son. The next day, still traumatized by the experience, I slept with the hotel TV on while my parents went to sleep. I was so sure that I had only watched a maximum of 2 hours of television but before I knew it, the sun had come out. I was confused as to how time had passed so fast.
Through the internet, I came to learn of Night terrors and concluded that that was what I experienced. Dreams in general were always interesting to me as a kid for i had an ability to stay totaly concious during a dream, acknowlegde that it was actually a dream and awake myself at will. I do not know if this has anything to do with OBE or if my mind is sensitive or whatever, but even when i fell asleep in classes i would often time suddenly jump and awaken with my arm flying and probably hitting a pen to the floor for no reason. Anyway, a few days ago while I was having an afternoon nap and having normal dreams I awoke. When I tried to go back to sleep I felt a tingling sensation at my fingers and feet. It felt as if blood was pumping through all my veins in those areas at a sudden speed. Through the internet I found it more accurate to describe those feelings as electrical pulses. This was accompanied with a suction feeling out of my body. Fearing I was going to a coma or dying in sleep (I told you my imagination was wild), I resisted the feeling and regained consciousness. However due to my extreme curiosity I decided to somehow get that feeling back and see what it would lead to. This time I completely relaxed and before I knew it, I was directly above my bed. So much so that when I realized what I was seeing, my room seemed 2-d like. Although my vision was very blur, I could see certain objects in my room and I knew I wasn't dreaming. I felt that I was in a conscious state and I could for some reason still feel my hand pressing against my bed although I was way high above it. It was unfortunate however that i did not even manage to leave my room. It was when i was approaching my door that I decided I had to clear my vision. My first reaction was to open my eyes and since then have regretted doing so. For when I opened them, I was right back in my bed again.
I know you may not be interested in my story, but I need some sort of confirmation that what I felt was not a dream and in fact really OBE. I have read about techniques of inducing OBE and have tried it last night but to no avail. Perhaps I am just too impatient. Since an early age, I have always feared death, craved to fly and have felt that my mind was always greater than just a mere brain. Experiencing what I did was so mind blowing I can't put it into words, it gave me hope of conquering my fear of death, it let me fly or hover for at least a few seconds although uncontrolled. I'm just getting so frustrated that I can't prove to myself that OBE is in fact real and that I may probably never experience and learn from what OBE has to offer every again. Is there a better way of experiencing OBE again? Could someone in a state of OBE somehow help me? Am I actually experiencing OBE or the most realistic dream I have ever had?

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Cloak60.

Your story is quite interesting for me to read, because I find it has a sort of resemblance to my own experiences, though, at that, quite vaguely.  I too sat in the back of the car, but I never did get into it where I had to close my eyes to use my imagination.  Perhaps, closing the eyes is a type of security that I could not afford to use, given present circumstances and my precognitive knowledge base as a result of prior incarnation, or, so I would hope.  And yes, even I feel like I'm trying to show you up, because I have an immense ego that can only be gratified by a sense of spiritual superiority.  A gross flaw.

These Night Terrors which you speak of... have they ever hinted to the existence of a Vain or a Malice?
I was given dreams in which my enemies were revealed, parts of my own psyche that are called, quite effectively, Avatars Of The Forbidden Power, which is, Evil Love.  I fully plan on writing a book about it, though, blabbering about it on the Net may be my ruination.  I would like more information about these Night Terrors, and if possible, I will assist you to defeat them.

In all experiences that I have had which seemed like an OBE, my vision was blurred, and it was as though I was looking with a 'second sight', as opposed to 'astral eyes'.  This may have something to do with the fact that I can imaginate while my eyes are open, though, since the near crippling schizophrenia (which is bull talk for mind screw), all my abilities have been dampened.  They are slowly regaining, although, this very night, among other very important memories surfacing and so forth, I noticed that when I accelerated my psychosonics to the point where the frequency and volume matched that of an external pressure vibration, there was a slight pain in my neck, at the exact place of the main blood line.  I must continually insist that there has been some surgery performed on me in the past, on one of my trips into the world while I was on the streets and alone.

For you, to once more achieve a OBE, I recommend charging your astral body.  Use bodily awareness, full body awareness, and attempt to intensify the feeling of your own body.  You must be fixated on strength, do not have a fickle will and suddenly say, while at max intensity, "FIRE IN MY BONES!"  Please, refrain from this, for it could be your annihilation.  But anyway, charge up, then, keep a steady focus.  If you are really good, you will probably achieve some meditative trance and experience a magical mode.

Be aware, I am not fully aware of all the intricacies of the universe, and I will say that you should not trust me at all.  The point of what I am trying to say is that you strengthen your astral body, concentrating the energy, then, relax, go into sleep, but then, when you are asleep, wake up a little bit, that's got to be the key, just tell yourself before you go to sleep, "As soon as I detect that I am asleep, I will wake up a LITTLE BIT."  That should do it.

Remember, psychic energy is AWARENESS.  Concentrate that awareness, and activate it with will.
It is your destiny to die.- One man turns his back on the rising shadows to chase the falling sun, another man knows the day is dead and embraces the coming darkness.-

Hi Cloak welcome to the AP forums!

If you haven't already, I recommend you having a look at our FAQ's section.

My short and non scary answer to your question is yes, it sounds like you have had an OBE. :)   The fuzziness and not being able to control yourself will pass the more you get out of your body, even if it is in your room.

I also recommend that you find what works best for you.   It takes trial and error but in the end it will save you even more time.  I believe that everyone has to find their own personal way of doing things or you'll end up worrying that you aren't doing things right because you didn't experience exactly what others have said they've experienced and that will only make it worse.

You might be interested in reading this thread about flying.  Fun reading.  :) http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_dreams/flying_in_a_lucid_dream-t9005.0.html

Good luck and tell us all about the next time!  :-D

Dear Perversionofevil,
Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry I wasn't clear earlier but I no longer have night terrors. It stopped some time ago although I do still have semi-conscious sleep walking which lead me to doubt the possibility that this OBE is not just another form of semi-conscious states I have experienced. And thanks Talanay for the useful information. I will try to research the topic on my own and try to find out the truth beyond all this.
