so I stumbled across a video about techniques on how to get into sleep paralysis while conscious from which to project from. The idea is to lay down awake and mimic how you breathe when you are asleep. If you get it exactly right you will trick the body into thinking you are actually asleep when you are not and your body will go into sleep paralysis while you are still awake. You would have to record the sounds of yourself breathing while asleep a previous night to study the exact pattern and depth so you can get mimic it right when trying it awake.

It all sounds interesting but is it all just hocus pocus? these particular video's is where they talk about OBE techniques a lot so its nothing to do with trying to sell some product to help you do it which gives it a little more authenticity. Anyway here is the whole vid if anyone wants to see it (it has other techniques also) : http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8y22y_5-sleep-triggers-to-trick-your-body_school

I know I can only try it myself to see if it does really work and I will but I just was seeing if anyone else has tried this and had any luck with it.

What you guys think?

Breathing techniques are really important for meditation and AP'ing.
You can try to mimic your breathing from past nights but I think the most important think is to learn the techniques first.
It's important to know how to control your breath.
Learn how to take big slow breathes that takes a long time to feel your lungs. Learning how to exhale properly also.
When you got those techniques down it will be really easy for you to AP.
Theses techniques not only teach you how to breath properly, when practiced you will feel as if you're not breathing at all.
It puts you into deep trance and help phasing much more easily.
I can take a long breath and when I exhale I feel energized yet very calm.
It's harder to try to imitate your sleep breathing than learning how to breath for meditation purpose.
It's also important to have a flow in your breath, by that I mean that your inhale and your exhale feels the same(there's no breaks between both).
Hope that helps you.
The partial becomes complete; the crooked, straight; the empty,
full; the worn out, new. He whose (desires) are few gets them; he
whose (desires) are many goes astray.

Thanks for the info but I think you may have misunderstood what I mean. I am not really talking about deep breathing to send you into deep relaxation to breathe from I am referring to a technique where you mimic your breath EXACTLY as you breathe when your asleep. This tricks your body into thinking its asleep and you go into sleep paralysis which you can project from.

I did understood what you meant, but what I meant is that it's more complicated to try to mimic your breathing than learning to breath the right way.
When you learn breathing techniques you'll eventually end up with such a natural breathing that it will be the same as while you are asleep.
You can try mimicking if you want.
But for me, I'd be too much focused on trying to have the same breathing than actually Meditating/AP'ing.
The thing is that when you do AP or you Meditate, if you want to do it the right way you have to master your breathing first.
Breathing is the key to success in meditation, that and clearing your mind.
It's very easy to learn breathing techniques.
And the more you do it the better you get.
You can also reduce your heartbeat when doing breathing techniques which will help you a lot to achieve AP.
And if your state of mind is not correct while trying you won't AP even if you mimic your breathing...
Tricking your body into thinking it's asleep doesn't really work because it's your mind that keeps you in.
Even if you succeed the first time, the next time won't work because your body is used to it.
I've read somewhere that you could tell your body to produce more endorphins which would put you into deep sleep paralysis too but I tried it multiple times when I was beginning and never succeeded.
Anyway, AP'ing without the right breathing techniques is like trying to do ice skating without the skates.
The partial becomes complete; the crooked, straight; the empty,
full; the worn out, new. He whose (desires) are few gets them; he

Wow, I've been at this for almost a year now and I've never heard this before. Do you have any links or resources you can post that will show us how to do this breathing properly? I will spend as much time working on this technique as possible until I master it. I'll do whatever it takes to learn how to project at this point.
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep; because my dreams are bursting at the seams.

Here's a good description of what you must do.

This is just basic exercise tho, as you go you'll want to find the most comfortable way that suits you best when you are breathing.
When you have good breathing technique you feel the flow of energy better in your body.

I'll work on this for a while then. Thanks Kzaal!
