Check out the Astral FAQs and Permanent Astral Topics - tons of good stuff there to get you started.

Good luck

well, i started reading everything that has astral, lucid or out-of-body in its title.
so first learn about theory. i suggest you to first understand form and meaning of subjects that you have interest in.
When you feel ready (and you will know when it's time, trust me) try to invoke lucid dream (its easier) and then astral projection. exercises you can get in many books and faqs

I'd recommend reading up on the various techniques. There are other websites out there. Apart from this one (which is great), there's also http://www.jonasridgeway.com , http://www.astraldynamics.com and http://www.astralsociety.com

I recommend Journeys Out of the Body by Robert Monroe; I'm findining it really interesting. I have two other astral projection books, but I haven't started reading them yet.

It will very likely take you time to learn how to astral project. The time it takes varies. Some people can do it in a matter of weeks; with others it can take months or even years. If you want to astral project, it can be useful to start off with some relaxation exercises (you may be good at those already) as your body needs to be really relaxed to AP. Once you feel completely relaxed, but your mind is awake (but clear of thoughts) then it's a good time to start on a technique.
