Title: Why can I not fly in my lucid dreams?
Post by: Gbob on September 20, 2009, 10:16:23
Every time I try to fly I either end up jumping or I float for like a second and then fall onto the ground. Also I can not pass through doors, I try running through them but I end up running into them.

Is it also possible to contact my spirit guide through lucid dreaming? I've tried shouting out to him/her in my LD's but he just ignores me.

It's just a mental block. The brain finds it hard to break with what it knows as reality, ie: if you leap into the air you always supposed fall back to earth. Next time you try to fly, imagine you are being pulled upwards by some force above you, instead of only being propelled upwards by your own legs. It helps the brain work around the problem, and you should find you can fly much more easily. Works for me.

I wrote about this on some other forum:

QuoteFirst when you realize that you're dreaming and if your wish is to fly and you can't just look at your environment, e.g. if you want to fly on top of the tall building just imagine that building is shrinking and becoming smaller and smaller, in that moment have a thought that you want to fly there, feel like you going up and building become smaller...building will not shrink and you will not bee on the ground any more, when you detach from the ground it's easy to fly where you want. Principle is the same for every object you can see there, if you wanna fly to the sky use clouds or sun or stars.

This works perfectly for me.

I am not sure this is exactly the same as flying, but I over came the problem of my brain saying humans cant fly by giving myself wings (angel like). If birds can fly with wings, why not us? this was just enough to get round the problem!

Yup, as others have mentioned...
You can't fly and pass through objects because you subconsciously think you can't.
Solid objects are solid, aren't they?  Forget everything you know and start fresh.

As for flying... there was a time when the only way I could fly in a lucid dream (or otherwise) was to flap my arms.
Eventually I just said to myself, "... screw this flapping crap" and even since I just "take off".

Is this the same for the astral as well? There was one time where I did pass through a door, it was quite weird! But fun.  :-D

Think the movie "Ghost" when Sam had to unlearn what he believed he could and couldn't touch. The same things apply to the astral planes. Sometimes (even now, after years of projecting) I still can't get through the ceiling and I fly through the window instead. I can always fly outside, but I do a "car route" which is I follow roads and landmarks. Not all the time, but it's what we know so its' what I do sometimes. It takes effort to remember in that state, but when you let the rules go that's when you can really experience things.

The Astral is very "thought-oriented"... if you don't think it, you can't do it.
You didn't pass through a door. ;)  Doors don't exist.  :)

Try this... use Google Earth!  :)
It's a really good tool for if/when you do get out.
Zoom into your current home area... then zoom out and remember what you see.
The zoom over to an area you want to go and slowly zoom in, remembering the area.
That way when you do get out and are able to go much higher, you can go over to this other area and recognize it from the sky.  :)

Well I managed to teleport this morning woo!  :-o I was teleporting away from my mum cos she was chasing after me...I turned myself into blue shimmering dust and teleported away from her. Although I was moving in quite a slow pace, I could have ran faster than that.
