Impressive that you have read all the books on this subject [no offence, just kidding]
Seems like you are trying to focus too much, don't consciously try to open your eyes, just drift with the flow of nothingness and eventually you may get vision. Focusing on attaining it won't help you I think. But then what do I know...
i think this all the time. one day i thought about rasing my hand up but then all i was doing was racing my real hands. hmm i hope more people reply that know more about it.
Robert's book covers this stuff in full detail :) buy it.
Hi Psydonym,
First of all , if you can provide me with some detailed explanations on what you feel when you feel as if you have left your physical body. Details such as , floating , heavyness , itching , lightheadedness , seeing blackness in 3d as if you have a box over your head inthe dark with your eyes open , being pushed forward gently, or being pushed backwards as if you had your eyes closed in a car and it just took off from a stop.. All these feeling are not limited solely to the point of exit yet they can really help me answer your questions more.. Some people feel some of those feelings and they are directly related to what state your mind/body is going through. Heavyness is most likely a sign of the physical body beginning to fall asleep and is usually accompanied by strange mental images/sounds/scenes that try to suck you into them and force you to fall asleep. The 3d blackness feeling is usually a sign that you get after you felt heavyness or for some of us , we get to that point without even feeling the heavyness ( like me ). The floatyness feeling probably happends around the 3d blackness point but depending on what you or focusing on or maybe the technique you are using , you might notice one or the other , or both.
If you can describe exactly what you feel when you think you have left your body , it would help for me to offer some advice.
Also , the conception of "vibrations" that most people claim to feel , might not be the "vibrations" that other people feel. I experience vibrations in certain places (top of neck , or base of my spine) and they seem to just surge at random times once they come. I'll be listening to my teachers lecture in class while sitting in my OBE position in my desk and eventually I'll suddenly reach a point where my mind is very very clear and thats when I focus on my body only to feel nothing at all (or close to nothing).. as if I disconected. Right around that time I'll feel a strange feeling somewhere on my spine mostly that can only be related to the feeling of someone sticking a vibrating device into my bones and turning it on and off. Each "surge" lasts about 2 secs or less and once I notice it happen twice or so , I'm able to will it on and move it around to certain areas where I want to feel the surge. That surge is also a trigger that lets me know I've reached paralysis.. I can literally try to move with all my might and end up going nowhere. I'll feel both my energy body and my physical body sometimes but neither will move until I do a special visualisation that gets me "out" but thats another story much too long to post here.
As far as vision goes.. sometimes I notice paralysis and am able to walk around without vision for a while.. either it just comes a few seconds after the OBE , before the actual OBE , or when you get a certain distance away from your physical body while OBE. I've stumbled around my house and made it into my living room while not being able to see anything at all.. strange thing was.. my livingroom furniture felt like the furniture I had in there a year ago when I was OBE.. strange.. Some people say that chanting "vision now!" or something like that will bring it on but.. I dunno , just find out what works best for you .. walk far away from your body and youll end up getting it. If you do happen to see your surroundings without opening your eyes during your practice, you are OBE and simply have to get up with your energy body. If you reach that stage , focus on a point in the room where you can see and mentally try to push forward and float there in that general direction. You should notice the surges of vibrations that I mentioned earlier. I've done that a few times but then again , its different for everyone so its not easy to give advice on OBEing sometimes.
Not sure what you meant by question number 2 , seeing your body while out is easy if you want to see your physical one laying there looking dead... heh.. yea you look pretty much dead when you see your body OBE.. freaky..
You can OBE without having a lucid dream first.. its the way most of mine happen but its not an easy question to ask when you wanna know how to have one like that. It depends on a lot of things.. It depends on how much sleep you've had , how tired you are or awake your are, what technique you might be trying to do , how much you focus on your body or if you do at all , many things.. The best way for me to OBE without dreaming first is listening to my teacher lecture in class.. If you do a search , you might find my methods of doing it in class at school. I exit as soon as I get surges of paralysis/vibrations and am able to walk around class , listen to the lecture, or dance around in plad colored pajama pants with penny loafers on....(yes I did that).
Moving your arms or opening your eyes will not necessarily "ruin" your projection attemp but it might prolong it. If I decide to test whether or not I've disconnected by moving something or opening my eyes , I feel like I just HAVE to change positions totally shortly after that. It gets to be very uncomfortable to me after I do those tests and I cant really explain why but I just feel like I'll never fall asleep in a million years if I stayed in that position any longer so I toss over and fall asleep most of the time. Might be different for you..
If the room is dark when your trying to OBE , you can always try to picture how the room would look with dim lights on while practicing (especially if your technique is a visualization technique of some kind) and you will eventually turn your visual into astral vision but you might not notice how real the visual is getting over time.. I've done that before and before I knew it I was actually in the scene I created. You can picture something in your head ( like the beach )and if you hold it there long enough and maybe walk around in first person in the visual , you will eventually get sucked into it and might not know it until you wake up the next morning.. If you are lucky enough to realize "hey its so real now!" then thats when you are out. You have basically slipped into a lucid dream if you did that but its ok. Lucid dreams are OBEs if you have enough awareness in them to control them. If you become aware that you are dreaming dont bother trying to go OBE cause your already there! When you get more advanced with it , you can start focusing on your physical body while maintaining OBE state ( kinda hard at first) or even focusin on other bodies of yours that exist on different planes (still hard to explain but many people have different terms for the bodies) Nonphysical body , Energy body , astral body , etheric body .. I am confused with all of them at the moment.
I've projected into my room while it was dark and what I noticed was that after the paralysis , I got up and a golden shining light was lighting up the walls like torches.. wierd thing was , it wasnt my room.. the dimensions were the same but the furniture and stuff was different.. looked like my room but in midieval times almost. You can always manifest light in dark places while OBE so dont worry about lighting :)

Peace and good luck :) -- I agree many books leave out a lot of trouble people have when trying to OBE and I feel that I've examined the exit process a LOT during the past year and I understand what different feelings mean when you get them but still have tremendous trouble trying to OBE from a sleeping position in bed.. my best bet is to OBE in class but I end up missing out on quizzes =/.
Hi all
I have a big problem to find some answers of I think important questions concerning OOBE.
1.) Every book tells how to seperate pyhsical and astralbody. The most case the mentioned methodes are acrobatic ones.
My simple Question. I have the feeling of leafing my physical body a several times. But what should I do ? Open my eyes to see it is really happen ? Rolling out my Body..... Than I would lie next to my bed on the floor with my physical body.
Stretching my astral arms and catch something to pull out ??
2.)How can I see my body if I`m out, if I want step in the oobe without a lucid dream ? If I open my eyes I would ruin my state of relaxion. If I move my arms I would loose the state of my relaxion. And so on...
And how can I see my body when the room is complet dark ?
I think that are the essential things of introducing a first OOBE and no book covers this. Even if there is another kind of few like open the eyes, Why does no book tell the different.
I really belief in OOBE. And I really can feel my astral body when I do my daily practise session. I feel vibrations. And I`m even able to play with the state of beginning to dream. And I`m able just to watch it and break it up. All this is mentioned in all books I have read but these 2 Questions aren`t please answer me. I got stuck in my process of learning !!
Thanks in advanced
