Yet another exit, question though

So I took a nap earlier this afternoon to try and have an out of body experience.  I'll share how and what happened then I'll ask my question.  I laid down in bed to take a nap, and a song was kind of stuck in my head, and as I was drifting off I still had the song in my head and all of a sudden I was no longer just thinking about it but I was hearing it as though I was wearing headphones.  After a short while it stopped and I got the vibrations, and I felt the separation as I lifted out of my body to the side of my bed.  Lately on my last few exits right when I get out I can't see anything, and this time was no different.  I tried to walk blindly out of my room and there was what seemed to be an inescapable gravity pull back toward my physical body.  I fell to my hands and knees and scratched, clawed, and pulled my way out of my bedroom.  All the while I could feel perfectly the carpet on my hands.  Anyway, I struggled with everything I had to get out of my bedroom and I was able to.  After I was what seemed like 20 or 30 feet from my physical body, I could see everything crystal clear, and was able to stand up.  This is the only out of body experience I've had thus far where my apartment seemed almost identical to physical matter reality.  I almost questioned whether or not I was actually awake, that's how real it felt.  Anyway, I walked up to the door of my spare bedroom and touched the doorknob which felt cold to the touch.  I opened it walked in the room and was about to jump through the window, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw my cellphone sitting on the TV stand (not where I ever put it).  So I picked it up to check it out and it looked just like my cell phone but there was some weird word on it, it was in English, I can't recall exactly what it said but it was definitely a word I've never heard before.  I thought, well that's kind of strange, then I woke up.

So, that was the out of body experience.  The question I have is, why all of a sudden when I have an exit is it so difficult for me to distance myself from my physical body?  In my first 2 out of body experiences, when I separated I could stand, walk, and see everything perfectly fine only a couple feet from my physical body.  Also, is it possible that this particular OBE was cut short because I expelled so much energy trying to create space from my astral body and my physical body?

According to Monroe (in Far Journeys, page 78 & others) your Second Body can only move 5 meters from the physical body. You have to break out your Third Body to move farther.

Interesting, I did not know that, still doesn't really explain why I was fine to move and see close to my physical body in my first 2 OBE's.

Were they spontaneous?  Because this would explain it (in my head, anyway).

I'm not sure what you mean by spontaneous, if by spontaneous you mean I was all of a sudden aware that I was out of my body then no, it wasn't spontaneous.  Every exit I've had has come after vibrations so I'm getting more and more consistent being able to make this happen.  I usually get them when I come out of a dream, lucid dream, or just randomly wake up slightly.  I'm always very aware that I'm laying in my bed when I get the vibrations.  Every out of body experience I've had happened the same way.

Sounds like you snapped your cord..........Lol im just teasing and some people are going to hate me for saying that =)

In all honesty it is probably just a mental limitation that occured during the experience. Its possible you had "expelled" too much energy. For me I can have several OBEs in a row, maybe 4-5 in one morning, but each one of them usually gets significantly harder to stay out of body longer and clarity may seem to fade.

I would suggest "demanding" and what I mean by that is shouting things like "clarity now" or other words to improve your vision. Taking the aggressive route on an OBE can certainly deliver --> versus being passive about an OBE. On my passive OBEs it can sometimes get taken over by a lucid dream.

hope this doesnt confuse you. It does sound like something was almost "tied" to you but I think it was self imposed. Give another 10 or so experiences and see if it keeps occuring and maybe we can try to pinpoint the issue further.

As far as reading goes, expect things to be distorted. Words can change *as* your reading them and i've often seen hieroglyphics. There has also been items containing words that I have not been able to touch -- strangely.
I wandered slowly there
I saw a field where a thousand corpses lie
Angels sang the hymn of the end
About monsters which they fought
Over our world

As you feel you are seperating from your body and lifting out , KNOW that you can just take off and fly up through the ceiling and through the roof and feel the freedom you get. Then you can go looking around the town or countryside until the time you want to get back to your body and you will just automatically return and wake up.

You dont need to fear anything in Astral travel.
Cheers, djed  :-)
