Would this be okay to do?

I know it's EXTREMELY hard to have an OBE when trying to go to sleep at night. It's even hard for people who get out often because after all... Your body is programmed to sleep at night. The thing is... I was just curious, before I go to sleep at night can I try anyway? If I doze off I doze off... I still practice in the day as well. Who knows maybe it will program myself better to become more aware as well? I have awful dreams at night, and I want to start using my dreams as ways to get out as well. I only have done this a few times but it works. It's been harder lately though.

Would this be a bad thing to do? Like I said if I doze off it wouldn't be the end of the world. Just keep trying and trying.
What do you think? I would definitely practice in the day time as well. Because I know night time when going to sleep is the absolute worst time to try. I figure with my schedule though it won't hurt me not getting enough sleep etc.

Yes this ok to do. Many times you will fall asleep, but awaken in a Lucid Dream. Experiment, find your own "niche"!  :-)

Thanks Lionheart.  :-) We'll see what happens! I am off to bed now. Hope you been well. :-)

The last few nights I have been practicing before I go to sleep.  I am aware that I have a high chance of falling asleep.  I accept that I may fall asleep which I usually do.  I try later.  The more you try at astral projection, the more likely you will succeed.

not if you do it (like many do) in the middle of the night after 3-4 hours of sleep, it's called the Wake-back-to-bed method and many are highly successful with it (be it with direct or indirect methods), it's also recommended by many book authoring "AP gurus" as the best method for beginners

You can try this, nothing wrong but you'll probably just fall asleep. Best to do as Volgerle suggested.

I haven't tried this method but it seems like most successful method. I will definitely try this tonight.

What you suggested is the best method.  The other way is, if you try before bedtime you will likely fall asleep.  No harm done if you fall asleep.  It really does not matter.  There is a chance you can get out at that time but it is harder to do.  I have got out without sleeping first.
