Title: are scary movies bad for you?
Post by: Nagual on November 20, 2003, 02:00:08
Hum... I would say yes and no...
Yes, they are supposed to be attracted by emotions; being scared being one of them.
No, because, as you see horror/scary flicks over and over, you might become less easily/intensively scared.

PS: Personaly, the only part that I found freaky was at the end of the Ring 2, when the mother in front of the mirror turned around and came close with a twisted face.  It was amazing how they did it with such little special effects. [:O][|)]

lol!  i love that part!  the best part of ring 2.  i love the music/sound effect they used during that part.  it gives you such a feeling of sickly anxiety, otherworldly nausea.  that's one thing about the first ring movie, also.  the sound track was so creepy.  it increased that feeling of tension.  hehe.  i'm so impressed with those movies because they are low budget (compared to all the fancy US special effects and stuff), but managed to have much greater effect on me.

anyway, yes, you are right about how watching them over and over lessens the scariness.  perhaps this stuff will help me build up a creep-out tolerance.  haha, i just kept thinking that it would be bad if i was attracting negs to me by being scared and then that would keep me creeped out even more.  of course, so far nothing has happened, but it was something that crossed my mind, especially after reading everyone else's problems with negs.  the last thing i want to do is attract negs!  [B)]

How can you be sure about it...?  Maybe you did attract some Negs, but you just can't perceive them... [:O][;)]  Unless you are good at perceiving energies of course.

You could say something like "Ignorance is Bliss"...  I know a few people who were seeing "too much" and decided to stay "blind"  regarding the paranormal...

An healer friend of mine told me that most of his patients illnesses were caused by "ghosts", negative/cold energies...  He did not say such thing about me but, from the sad look of his face after he worked on me, I concluded I was no exception... [|)]

That's a good question. I love horror movies & watched them alot. It
kinda makes you feel as if there's danger all around. Watching them too much is probbaly not too good. Balance them with comedy's is what I do.

yeah, that's true. [:o)] well, i guess i'll say that so far no negs have made themselves obvious to me in the conventional ghostly way, and i haven't been suffering any illnesses or bad luck, fortunately.  haha i guess i'll just try not to overdose on horror and like metal ice says, i should balance it out with some positive, "feel good" stuff.

i know this is probably a pretty silly question, but i read somewhere that negative thoughts and emotions can attract negative entities to you.  does that include being jumpy/nervous/creeped out after watching horror movies?  like recently, i watched the movie "The Ring" (the japanese version.  i watched the american version after that, which didn't scare me as much).  well, usually horror movies have no effect on me, but this movie had me hiding under my bedsheets at night, and feeling nervous around tv sets (for weeks!!!! LOL[:I]).  of course, i was laughing at myself about all this, that a movie could get me like that, but at the same time i became hopelessly addicted to that movie (and its japanese sequels) and even though they creeped me out, i couldn't get enough!  now i hunger for more movies like that even though i know they're just gonna have me jumping out of my skin all the time.  anyway, this got me thinking about negs:  would my feeling creeped out all the time by these movies attract negs to me?  or does being scared not really qualify as negative feelings or thoughts? i hope it doesn't attract negs, because i'm having fun with my new horror interest.  i just ordered two more japanese horror flicks and can't wait to be creeped out (for some reason american flicks just never had much of an effect on me).  anyway, thanks for any input!
