Black men - Mute men - Shadows - Black lights

While browsing this forum and the internet, I've found lots of stories of encountering shadowy forms of energy, some even claimed that these entities have tried to drag one out of one's body or take one's soul. I would not think of this as true, unless a friend of mine hadn't experienced a black ball of energy trying to pull him out of his body, and if I hadn't been seeing black, manlike shadows (I call them mute men) from time to time since my childhood - they are always stronger if you are afraid of them.
Once, before a year or so, I awoke at night, paralysed (sleep paralysis, I assume) and I saw a tall figure standing by the window. In thoughts I said to him to go away, but at this point, it attacked me, getting on my chest, not letting me to breathe. But worst of all - I was almost scared to death.
That thing was evil... Luckily I was conscious enough to start a prayer (Our Father In Heaven) - instantly, the thing vanished, and I felt as if a loving and light entity had come to protect me.
So the question is - what are these things?? And how can we make them not coming at all?

I agree with lola.  I would think if they COULD destroy things, that would probably be the only thing they couldnt destroy.

I agree upon the fact they cannot destroy souls, but they create the fear that they could.

They are projections of your mind during an unfamiliar moment.
At the time one's consciousness is freed from the usual body-associated perspective the mind creates reasons why it should retreat back tyo the familiar state, ie. dark figures, hags out to suck your life, loud and terrifying noises etc.
They are all figments yoy create to justify the retreat back to the normal perceptual reality.

I know many here oppose my position that there is nothing that can harm you in the spiritual realm. For me, nothing ever has. Even the worst have become reduced into entirely understandable conditions of my perception and the projected facade of what I have encountered (given a value of encounter)

ive also experience that kind of thing. in the middle of the night when i was half awake and i saw a strange black smokey figure, and i can tell that it is a female but i dont know why. i found her near my feet, at first i am not affraid cause i know that it cant do nothing when you are not affraid, but when it approaches besides me and put her hands on my face, i begin to feel bumps (i dont know if this is the correct term for making the hair of your skin to erect) in my face. and the worse thing is that its like that her hands has enter my face and thats the time that i feel a very strong fear (as if i am going to die).
i think her hands has grab my fear within me. a fear that is hidden in me....and also at that time i could not move.

any explaination on that experience?   its not a dream bcause i am half sleep at that time and i could see my brother sleeping near me in the folding bed.
