Constant Shielding

I'm the kind of person who gets drained in a crowd, or really effected by another person's negativity.  Usually I shield and that takes care of the problem, but I forget so often!  Then I feel practically comatose and realize, "Yeah, you're in the middle of a mall with no shields - what did you expect?"  Too late.

I've been thinking about wearing a constant shield, some piece of jewelry or something.  Does anyone have personal stories about using such a thing?  I can figure out how to construct it, but I'm not sure how often it would need to be charged, what its limits would be, etc.

Hello Naiad
I have articles on shielding on my website www.astralhealer.com I use many layered shields all of the time with some being passive such as talismans and jewelry. Some are active such as energetic constructs and shields.
Increasing your aura and making it a shield by strengthening it is used in some books as remedies for being vampirzed. Psychic Vampires by Joe H. Slate uses these methods. They do not drain you all of the time if they are set up properly.

Hi Naiad,

I know only too well the feeling of being drained from being in a crowderd shopping mall. I tend to avoid them as much as possible.

As I've grown up with the natural abilities of an empath, I've always been VERY sensitive to the emotional energies of people around me. Especially when you have a crowd situation, you tend to get a lot of negativity, as many other people are feeling the pressures of crowded places, becoming irritated and impatient.

Up until recently I shieleded myself from these negative energies by using both white light shields, and crystals such as Aventurine or Flourite. What I found though, was that constantly shielding myself was actually hindering my psychic development. I wasn't allowing anything to get through to me so I had become isolated from the energies around me.

A wise old psychic gave me the clue one day when she told me to let down the shields, allow our own natural shields - the body's aura - to operate,  and just observe the energies of people around you. The important thing here is to not take on the energies of others, especially negative energies, but just observe them and let them pass through you. If we allow our energies to operate at a higher vibrational level (keep love and happiness in our minds and hearts), we greatly limit the effects negative energies have on us. Like attracts like, so if we're working with negativity in our lives, we'll tend to attract it. Work in love, and we attract love.

Setting intent also makes a huge difference here. If you're going to a shopping mall, set the intent that the energies will just flow through or around, but have no effect on you, and set the intent that you will stay "in the light" and stay above the negativity.

This will not only help you deal with crowds, it will help you develop your psychic/empathic senses as well.

Take care,
James.

James, I have heard other people say that constant shielding can be a hinderance after awhile.  I see the logic behind that.  I suppose it's like using antibiotics all the time - you depress your natural immune system.

Now I just wonder how to make myself remember to shield *before* it's too late and I'm already drained.  I never had empathic issues until I started using NEW, so I'm not used to doing it.  A lot of crazy things are happening lately!

Frequent or even constant use of shielding at first establishes the ability to set up a shield quickly when it is needed. It takes practice to be able to create a shield on a moment's notice which you can rely on for protection. Once you get to the point of being able to shield yourself anytime, anywhere, under any circumstances then you can stop using it if you want the rest of the time. If you are completely opposed to just shielding for practice, try just spending 15 minutes every couple of days to build a shield around a place or a building.

Hi tom,

Fortunately I know how to shield and do it often.  My problem is remembering to do it - so often I'm completely drained and THEN I go, "hey, I should have shielded."  That's why I was considering a constant shield.

Tom

That means you still need to practice your shielding. You can't do it fast enough or effortlessly enough. When you can recognize the need to shield as easily as you know what coat to have on outside in winter, you've got it. For now, you are going out in weather that is below freezing and snowy and getting several miles before realizing it is cold out.

Agreed, awareness and then response as needed.

My experience of people using aids for permanent defence is that they are often demanding in themselves and as mentioned also isolating plus they can get tacky on the outside if not cleaned :(.  So being aware and charting a more managed course can pay dividends in many ways.

This is a good point, Tom.  The coat in winter is a good analogy.  I suppose it will just take more effort than I'm used to, since I'm not used to needing to do this.
