strange dream... a warning of some kind?

First off, that place is more then just a dream, I've seen it myself, or another like it, while astrally traveling.  The reason fear is so dangerous is it created thouse demons and dark sprits, mainly cause thouse are your fears.  In my experence, it created a void or nothingness, not evil, because that is my fear.

Golem is another matter.  It probably appeared as Golem cause that's the best representation your mind came up with.  Probably representates a portion of yourself, as it did warn you what was up ahead.  It didn't mention the demons or evil spirits, it mentioned fear, my interpretation is that it ment that that's all that was up ahead.  The rest you created your self with it.

"There is nothing to fear but fear itself" probably shouldn't be taken as literaly, the same can be said for not fearing fear, therefore there is nothing to fear.  Not sure if you had a choice in your dream to run or not, but if you know your dreaming next time, try facing it.

Don't take my opinions worth too much more the a grain of salt, I'm far from a professional here, [:D] .. mabe 3 or 2 and a half if that's possible.  Hope I helped somewhat though,

I believe Golem represented a being who went through what it was warning me about. He seemed to have lots of knowledge about this place. I don't know why he was there, other than to warn me.

I was not so afraid of the demons, as I was of fear. I knew I could probably hold my own against them. I was armed with a sword. Nevertheless, it's best to avoid trouble. The reason fear was so dangerous was because it was not something I could have "physically" fought. It had to be dealt with emotionally (as it is an emotion) or in some other way.

It is interesting to meet someone who has also seen this place. Good to know it was more than just a dream. If I end up there again, I'll try to turn the situation into a lucid dream.

I've also had another dream about a month ago in which I was on the astral plane, only it really was a plane. It was like a Martian landscape- Dark red sky on the horizon, black above, dark red mountains making a chaotic skyline. The ground was reddish and crackled like desert landscape. I came across a giant chasm which led into infinite blackness. The person I was with almost fell down it but I saved her. We were originally going to scale it to see how deep it was, but we decided not to go down any farther after about ten feet. I got back up, she was stuck and was having trouble climbing. I was able to pull her up, but just barely.

There were etherial clouds, some light gray, some medium gray, and one very, very black cloud. This cloud passed over me and the person I was with in the dream. We were engulfed in darkness, but it passed. This cloud represented someone who was having a horrible life. I must have called it subconsciously to see if I could help it. This all probably took place on one of the lower planes.

Hrm, interesting, it seems very similar, a fear inside some sort of building, but in my case I wasn't directly afraid of the 'fear' there, and it created something out of my own fears for me to be afraid of.  I assumed the demons were your worst fear, but curious as to why they were there as it was the fear itself that you were afraid of, not the effects it created.
You might just want to go there again purposfully, though astral projection or meditation rather then just in a dream.  The place I seen, I went back 3 times.  Each time, the fear and what it created was lessened.
I just remembered something though, not sure what relivence it has to your dream, but the last time I went, it wasn't fear I found there.  It was still quiet, much like one would expect from an old house or mansion, but there was no fear, instead it was rather peaceful.  Perhaps whatever entity causes fear there doesn't cause it, it simply sends out an emotion similar to 'quiet old alone building', and it's our minds that turns it into fear.

Can't offer any ideas on the 'Martian landscape' though, never traveled anywhere close, either in dreams or astral. So, looks like I don't know everything, ah well.

I had the most frightening dream I've had in many years a few nights ago. I was near my hometown and I was walking along a street and saw an old abandoned shack. It looked like the shack had been empty for many years. I don't know why but for some reason I had to go inside of it to do something. I walked in and I went down in the basement. When I got down there, I felt an omnipresent evil, and there were what I think were demons and other dark spirits in the shadows, growling, making strange noises. Then there was the creature Golem from Lord of the Rings. I was standing beside him in front of two rows of pillars. Golem explained to me that fear was at the end of the two rows of pillars. I looked and did not see anything there, but I definitely felt that there was a presence there, some kind of force sphere. And it was fear. I was staring at fear itself, only it was invisible. But it was definitely there. Though I found the demons and dark spirits around me somewhat frightening, I remembered one saying: There is nothing to fear but fear itself. And so I turned and fled.

I am not sure what this dream was implying, but it was certainly vivid. It could either be a warning or a message, one which I did not understand. Or it could have been pure coincidence. Either way, I've never dreamt about fear itself before. Though it was harmless, it was far more harmful in other ways than any of the demons within my dream (or nightmare, as it was).
