So I dont normally do orbs in pictures etc, as I just cant see how they are to do with the spirit world, but watching the BBC in HD I had to rewind and film this!!!?? its not so clear on the video, but on the TV a large egg shaped ball of light is clearly sat on Mario Balotellis shoulder moving and appears to be alive!!
What the heck is it???

Hi,
Something natural that very reflective and out of focus. You get these often when using a large aperture lense. This gives a narrow depth focus field, upto and over a short distance its out of focus. The aim is to remove distractions in the image. In this case the background had a bright spot and looking at the edges you can see the f-stop of this lens has been reduced giving a lined section to what would have been a circle if the aperture was fully open. 8 sections being common, more with larger lenses.
It was the departing Angel Of Good Luck.
Hence they lost to Spain.
it looks like a brain

Yeah I was hoping some one would come up with a down to earth suggestion. So would still make it move and sparkle on the TV ?? It looked completely 3 dimensional and alive lol. I have never seen anything like that on TV before ?
Hang on a minute Saxx I just read your post again, hes in the middle of a football pitch, what would be like that close enough to create that effect ? Im trying think.
Hi,
I've had another look and the aliens are coming, er no.
Its glare in the background, out of focus and either waving in the wind or heat haze. Standing by my guns.
I used to have a darkroom and saw plenty of this stuff. For a similarity, put drops of water on a window at night with streetlights in sight. Get right up to one drop and look through it. Its more spikey and out of focus, the effect is similar.
Its all to do with depth of field and the effect is useful to remove background distractions. Ideal for wedding photographs...

I agree about water droplets etc thats why I dont believe orbs are spirit etc. Bit we are not talking about still photography here, we are talking about live film, and during the fiml it can easily be seen moving 3 dimensionally, have you had that happen when filming something? I have never seen it.
I have noticed that in this video. It is like a brain and it is a close picture of an orb.
Hi,
Orbs, take a flash camera, take a picture in a room thats not been used for a few hours and look at the image. You see the room. Next take the dust from the filter of a tumble drier. Slap it between you hands infront of you, a dust cloud appears. Take another photo with the flash and then look at the image. Magically orbs have appeared.
Or for real orbs that occasionally appear, be in the right place at the right time with diffuse light only. No camera just your eyes and watch the tiny coloured light ball appear out of nowhere then dissapear into a wall. Your loved cat needs to be in the room watching too. After the orb dissapears into the wall the cat sniffs the exact spot of entry. Real orbs.
Dust orbs occur because the flash is close to the lens. Red eye is a problem too if the face is somewhat distant. Its cured by the photoshop cleaning effect being programmed into digital units. The other cure is bounce flash or extending the lead from the camera to place the flash unit a couple of feet away.
Daytime orbs generally on film are the same if stills or cine film is used the latter consists of many stills displayed one after the other. All the ones Ive seen have the background blurred indicating a large F stop. Anyone with an SLR camera can try this use a close up image focus on it and in the background have a bright led. Look into the viewfinder to see the said effect above on the video. A little movement will produce the brain effect unless your lenses are pristine in cleanliness.
Anyone want to try this?

Yeah im with Im a medium, I rarely see anything in a picture that makes me believe it has anything to do with the spirit world. But what about digital filming, will that be recreated that way?
Hi,
Digital cameras without the built in filters easily pick up a wider frequency range than our eyes and the development of VLSI ccd units being very sensitive counteract this as generally everything is in focus. The SLR camera has its parameters already set and mimics that of film, thats why the.earlier suggestion was made. High quality video cameras have a range of lenses to suit the required effects in film making. An example of this is to use a zoom lense say 35 to 105 mm focal length. Set it around 70mm and walk down a spooky corridor set while rotating the zoom back towards the 35mm setting. The effect is the end of the corridor dissapears further into the distance while the foreground shows the forward movement.
Multiple lens units are available that can focus from 20 mm to infinity. These are 22 cell units(minimum) and cost the earth for one with muliple effect settings with a large F stop.
The various effects like in the video are comparatively easy to produce or horror films wouldn't be quite so horrid. You'll see the various effects being utilised in documentaries. Its very easy to create ghosts and the like if you know how and even the experts have been fooled once in a while.
Cool! :-o
Nice!! But in my opinion its hard to tell!
