Cern is to hold a conference inviting philosophers and religious figures to speak. They aim to find a common ground and to attempt to 'make peace' with detractors of science and attempt to expand their own awareness.
This seems good, at first, and I applaud their efforts.
But, IMHO, whilst this is a positive move, I feel it will only end in tears.

One major thing they want to discuss is the Big Bang.
Whilst they still think in terms of a beginning and an end, of matter and no matter, of this and that, and try to tally it or translate it into a religious context, they are still missing the point and failing to see what really Is.
It's like they think that just because they know how to spell a word, they understand semantics.

They're also trying to find a way to communicate these ideas to non-scientific people. So many people won't consider scientific/objective theories because their beliefs won't allow for it, though many of the theories, like the big-bang, are very valid theories. Even if everything is illusory, these things are still taking place through measurable means within the illusion. For a well-rounded picture, it's good to understand everything on all levels, not only physical or only non-physical.

They are trying to justify the Billions of dollars they are spending on research to the general public and to get Theologians/Religious figures on board is a good way to do it. People just seem more trusting in general when Theology or the Church is is brought up.
