Are there any humans who can actually truly wrap their minds around the concept of 10 dimensions? Or 26? Or whatever?
Man that was awsome.... all so much clearer now.
I showed it to my father and he understood it too and told me its the best explanation he ever saw about this stuff. He will buy the book now :-) I will read it once I can get my hands on it!!

No, it is physically impossible for a 3-dimentional creature to even begin to imagine what the higher dimentions are like simply due to the fact that we have nothing to relate it to. It's like trying to explain the concept of color to a person who has been blind from birth.

I saw that in a film once, about a boy who looked like a lion, Cher was his mother, he met this blind girl and tried to explain to her what the colours looked like. That film was called mask :). The son had a genetic condition which grossely distorted his face - and it detailed the hardships him and his family faced because of it.
Just checked the site out and I would be a bit wary of taking anything it says as absolute. Firstly, the guy who created the site has no physic credentials at all. Secondly, the explanations of the different dimensions do not match the standard string theory models; these usually contain the other dimensions folding in on themselves (calabi-yau space).
Thirdly, there is still much debate about how many dimensions there actually are.
Fourthly, string theory has yet to produce anything other than theory, or be verified in any way. It currently is a highly theoretical, incomplete framework which seems to detail everything but our own universe. I know there are a lot of people losing faith in string theory the longer it provides us with nothing tangible.
Websites such are this are nice to bend the mind slightly, but they don't necessary represent anything truthful – it's just a layman person's interpretation of a theory which hasn't been proven in any way.

The folding of string theory doesn't really factor in as it only refers to the way the extra dimensions exist in our 4D reality as opposed to how they relate.
I'd take the referred site as a guide to relating several dimensions in terms of manipulations to create a physically perceivable effect or an analogy of one in higher dimensions.
If one takes that approach the presentation (the clever stuf with branching, twisting etc.) is a good introduction to how the extra dimensions can be thought of as a recursive 3D pattern.

lol, you got me on that one ;p. The usual thought is that only 3 dimensions expanded and the rest remained curled up in on themselves:

I agree with you here. It's slightly misleading in the way each dimension looks like a branching 3d map starting from the point of the last though.
Cor blimey. I've just watched it and would need to watch it for infinity to understand it. :-D
I was doing well and even managed to get my head around the 4th dimension (sort of). They've explained it really well in layman's terms, however it still gave me a headache. I found it interesting that it had to end at 10.
Hypothetically speaking, if it started with two zeros, would that change matters? Would it then be neverending?
Sarah slopes off to take painkillers and do something soothing, such as think about baby kittens and knitting... :-P
