A rather bizzzare cartoon with a very deep message and raises some questions about reality.

Truth exists beyond the dimension of thought.

Waking Life is the animated movie about a lucid dreamer and the people that he encounters??

If it is then I have seen and like it (with a few qualifications).
Qualification One is that the ending was a letdown. The protagonist just floats away into the sky??? :? :-P
Qualification Two is that All of the movie takes place in a lucid dream. There were no other states of consciousness and therefore there were no comparisons of say for example -- the lucid dream state and the out of body experience consciousness.
In other words I felt that the movie could have explored more themes. Yet it is well worth seeing.

On the DVD commentary, Richard Linklater (director) talks about how during the process of making the movie he would lucid dream and talk to his dream characters about the movie and how to proceed with it. I love the movie and the abstractness to it. And as with most dreams, I think he leaves the movie up to individual interpretations.

I really like the end though. Throughout the movie you see the guy slowly coming to conscious realization of what is going on, but he just can't let go. You have the visual of him holding onto the car door handle as he's floating up, and then loses grip. Frightening (at first), but free. You just have to let go. (my individual interpretation).

He also made the recent "A Scanner Darkly", with similar but better animation. I recommend it.
