Your question is "if heaven is so great, why dont you go now?". I've asked them too and they say "because god says to live life" or some other dogma. I know theres an afterlife... and dont know why I'm still here, but I am. Maybe I dont have enough info to want to jump into it. I tend to forget a lot of what I see when I'm there.
To wish to jump into the next life so quickly would be a denial that this one had any value. If we cannot be content here, how are we ever going to be content there? Furthermore, the selfishness that might lead someone with a perfectly good life to end it for other things they perceive to be better is one of the most antithetical things to the whole idea of what life is about there. Higher existence is about connection to others and the divine spark, and so if you make decisions purely on the basis of your own desires, you are, in effect, sepperating yourself from what constitutes those heavenly realms.
But don't take my word for it- think for yourself!
Thank you,
Stillwater
Hi Kazbadan,
There are number of views that are posted whenever a thread like this appears, so I'll state my thinking. It is that we are here to learn lessons, and balance karma. Also, there are experiences here in the physical that hopefully will lead to a greater understanding of our true divine nature.
By the way, I moved this topic from obe discussions to spiritual development. I hope you don't mind. [:)]
Very best,
Nick
Sorry Nick! I just didnt knew where to post it.
About the topic itself: you are correct i supose, we are here to learn lessons, maybe in the hard way but we are learning something. I only speak for myself, because i feel that i have learned to much. I learned about love, humility, compassion and patient, but i just learned a little. I think i have much more things to learn related with these same topics (love, compassion, etc) and with others.
Maybe i am being arrogant in a subliminal level, but i think that many people that i know it´s not learning nothing (maybe not because of their fault). I say this because they give to much attention to materialistic things (well, i am still being linked to many material things too...i am not a Budha!) and to their appetites, without caring with others. I suppose that this spreading disease it is happening more and more specially in modern Ocidental world.
We see many people with depressions ( i am one, but i am fighting against that), stress and chained strongly to the material world, wothout giving anu attention to thei friends and to people that needs help. Our society it´s getting sick. I would like to make something about that(as the possible i can of course, i know that i am not any Messias!), but first i must heal myself.
Though I do agree that in the afterlife, it would be great to be there and I would like to be there when ever I get there, I don't want to leave just becuase of that, the reason for this is.
Everything around me, my family, my friends. I couldn't leave them like that, it just wouldn't settle with me to leave them greive like that, so I keep living, enjoying what beauty the world has left to offer and experence new things here in this realm. When I am content that I have lived to my fullest here, I will pass on to the next life with no regrets.

Van-Stolin, I couldn't have put that better myself! You are absolutely right.
Why are we here?......
Well because we choose to reincarnate and learn in the physical dimension.
As one evolves, one can begin to see the ease with how they can go to earth and learn their spiritual lessons and that all lessons do not have to be learned through hardship. When a spirit does choose to return to earth, it is because they have had a very good understanding of the lessons that they were to have learned in their past life and what they did learn or what they did not learn and what they will go to earth to do in a new life. Oftentimes a spirit has evolved considerably, though at a much slower, slower pace than an earth life, but they have evolved spiritually into higher spiritual consciousness as a spirit life and will go back to earth with a much more knowing way of what and how to continue that spiritual growth at a much faster pace.
I believe that this life is so special compared to
others that you wouldn't want to miss it [^]
I can tell you that it is not in very many lives
that you get this completely controllable bio-robot as
a vehicle. Which allows you to do many neat things. [:D]
I am starting to think in the same way: this life is very special. Maybe it is more fun to do not have powers. Its like in a pc game: while being a week guy (no guns, no powers, etc) the game is cool because you fight hard,
Near the end you have plenty of weapons and skills and you kill everything. Same happens with life, sometimes. We need to fight for things, only with that we will learn more...i suppose.
It's true that the people that have NDE's no longer fear death, it's also true they're opposed to coming back and are usually ticked when they get back...but it's that reason they're sent back because they came here for a reason and they aren't finished what they came to do. I've read hundreds of nde accounts over the past, most at http://www.nderf.org ...not sure if i'm aloud to posts links on here, if not the mods can delete it. Just a NDE site...I liked the video game analogy btw heh.
Also another thing I seen come up in a few stories is after these people died they had absolutely no interest in life on earth that it seemed so meaninless after seeing the truth ( even having kids back on earth )...that part kinda bothers me somehow but I know i'll understand some day. Would explain I guess why some people don't come back to say goodbye.
Another theory is that we are here to raise the vibration of the planet as a whole to a higher frequency. This means in a nutshell that we are all trying, life after life, to be as cool as Jesus Christ himself. So EVERYONE is enlightened, everyone has full psychic powers, everyone knows their spiritual guides, everyone knows that We are God experiencing himself.
As to why God wants or has to do it this way, i still can't figure it out. From everything i've read it is just too complex for my puny human mind to understand, so don't worry about it. You'll find out when you're dead, and then you'll forget again when you reincarnate, unless you are an advanced soul that has learned all you can, then you'll go on to do something else.
BlackTalon, that problem of not being worried with kids and parents it is boring indeed. I think that it is egoistic to leave the earth without caring about others pain. Budhists after death will want to reeicarnate in order to continue their job of helping people. They will not want to free themselves until others get free first.
Narfellus, I fully agree on that.
There is, besides, much interesting reading in regard of this topic:

Do we enjoy a break and recreation after not having worked hard and satisfactorily? I believe that I am going to take everything with me that is not physical except my memory. There is much reference to a "river of oblivion" that you are going through after having "previewed" the life you have chosen to incarnate in. Hence your memory is erased, but some people are able to recognise and remember parts of "the film" shown to them earlier and they call it déjà-vu. Reference:

I believe that I am going to take myself (my psyche and my understanding with me; how I see the world) and that is what I can change in my life so that it is pleasureable to me. Are you at a point where you are satisfied with yourself, where you would say: "Ok, that's enough, I am smart enough, I have learned enough, there is nothing that I don't know, nothing that is of interest for me."
I did think that quite a lot times in my life only to experience that there is much more to know, to do and experience. Anytime when I thought that I simply can not grow anylonger, I discovered that it goes much further than that.
There are moments in life that I appreciate very much. These above are one of them. All the best!
There is the believe, among budhists, that there is a basic existence (i shouldnt call it ego because it is much more than that, ther is no ego) behind our normal ego. There is a clear form of being, behind our memorys, our true nature. It is that nature that we carry on after death.
Maybe we will forget our memorys after death but that basic existence at least will prevail, because she is more than a mere ego.
If so, why do we forget our memorys, evryting that we learned? Maybe for two main reasons, refered by you yothu: first we forget about our existence in order to clean and lift our soul. We do not want to have the heavyness of an entire life, all the problems and horrible things that we may have experienced will disapear with no memorys to record.
Secondly, we forgot our memorys because what matter is the essence of the learning. If in this life i learn to have compassion for living beigns, that it will be the learning that i will not forget.
Matbe things work like this, i have no idea, but it scares me a little to forget who i am. It is a strange experience, terrifying maybe.
Besides this ideas, i stil have this question: do we really forget our memorys? Budhists may believe so, but many other people say that you go to heaven or something like and there you will not forget your memorys. Maybe you will loose then if you want or if you reeicarnate.
I guess that there is only one way to know that: i will suicide myself then i wil come back to tell you.
Just kiding! I am not any kamikaze[:D]

An interesting suggestion. But what if you are born with amnesia again? ;)
To be clear, I'm not seriously encouraging anyone to do this of course. In my point of view it's probably true that we choose our lifes, and definetly not to kill your body later on. ;)
Stillwater: To wish to jump into the next life so quickly would be a denial that this one had any value.
No. It would mean this life has LESS value than the next, not none.
lol![:D] Beavis in is best as always!
If i had vote in the most funny guy in the forum, it would be you.
The Physical Game
You exist forever, and you know its a fact.
You meet up with some people that know about some game called
The Physical.
And you like to play, so you sign up for a gaming experience.
You read up on what you can do there, and what you can learn and experience. Everything seems to be like alot of fun.
You fly around and are doing some stuff, and you get a message from The Physical saying that you have access to a character in The Physical.
You gladly jump down to the starting area for assembly.
The Connection and setup is Activated and you are set to go.
WHAM!! you are jettisoned into the physical.
Now the Gaming begins.
And from time to time you leave The Physical to relax and meet up with friends (Dreaming).
And after some time, your character you have in The Physical are nolonger strong enough to hold your energy, so you eject and leave The Physical.
You then relax and take a break from your gaming, if you want to.
Maybe you choose not to play the game anymore, its all up to you.
Is there is afterlife, why is everybody worried with this life? Why is important to live it, if you are gonna to a heaven place? I mean, may times poeple with NDE speaks that they dont fear death, but they want to live every second of this (material world) life. So, if they believe in after life, they shouldnt be worried, because they can live again after being death...confusing for my head.
Besides that, wich is the main difference (spiritual difference, not talking about having a body here and sould there in the heaven) between heaven and earth?
Due to language barrier (i am not english) i dont no if you are understanding my question...
