aha! But - does believing in things which are real that you have no experience in cause problems? I try not too but so so much points to OBE being real. I have got very near and trust many people who say they have.
perhaps, I am accepting a general collective truth rather than an objective or subjective one??
I think that there are 2 possibilities, believing in things you have no full experience in is:
-  bad, period
- opens you up to the possibility of belief system corruption, even though this is not necesarily going to happen

Believing in something which is clearly not true can be a useful technique. I did not read the article, so I don't know how relevent my remarks are. If you have a belief which you know to be false it can help to start another false belief to counter it. There is a technique for lucid dreaming involving telling yourself and believing that you are constantly asleep and in a dream even when you are clearly awake and in the middle of daily activity.
