I never liked the idea that at some point in our spiritual future, we would simply merge into the ONE source (God?) and that would be the end of "us" as we know it.

However, I think your theory is interesting in itself.  The way you see it, it's almost like being a kid and getting everything you want.  If that were the case, you would never LEARN anything.  Whatever you want, you got.  There would be no sadness, no hardship, no struggle.

We incarnate on this Earth to learn these lessons, and to progress as spiritual beings.  So that the next time we are in a non-physical form, we are that much closer to maturity.

I agree with this....I just don't like to think that at the end of the road, after all this learning and progress, we simply merge back with the source of all energy.  Seems too vague and essoteric for me.

Jeff,
from what I have heard, the concept of 'merging with the one' is simplified so we can understand it. I have read in several texts that guides explain the melding as merging with the source AND still being an individual, AT THE SAME TIME.
This is an impossibility according to Aristotlean logic which we have all been brought up with, but is not impossible when we take into account the recent theories of 'fuzzy logic', where it is deemed possible to be somthing and not somthing at the same time.

Douglas

PS also people seem to forget that this is a two way trade. people only seem to think about how the source get the benefit of all our experience etc, but remember, when you merge with the source, YOU are getting it all, you become everything... the ultimate individual!

Douglas,

If that's the case, then I don't have a problem.  But I'll be damned if I learned how to do so many things (like astral projecting, brewing my own beer, mastering the art of thumb wars, etc) only to lose it all down the line!

Thanks for the explanation, amigo.

Jeff, ya...its a bit esoteric, but it my understanding that once you've fixed your issues (i.e., sins of adam - or whatever you want to call it) you return with (as Gandalf wrote)your experiences, thereby making you different and separate.  Like combining one drop of water(you)with another drop of water (the One) = one drop of water. You knew they were separate - once - but now there together, but you keep the memory of the separation and experiences.  Obviously, my theory needs tweeking..., but thanks for the comment, and thanks to Gandalf as well.

I've been interested in astral projection for many years. Although, I've been successfuy several time, I found it very difficult to consciously do.  I wondered why? So I have a theory.  We don't want to return to the astral. or heaven..etc.  We want the hardship of physical wonders.  We hold on to life because the alternative is boring and non-earned.  In the astral, we are a child sucking on are mother's breast. Every moment we can exist in the astral, we're freeloading.  This environment of cause-and-effect we relish. This is the only place where we can slow things down enough gain lucidity and pay our dues.  The astral is too abstract to organize physics into a meaningful model, eventhough, everything we want is there.  We don't have to work for anything.  It's free - but no lucidity is achieved!  My feeling is that we don't want free stuff (free spiritual energy).  There is benefit in working for spiritual energy and the potential it holds.  The benefit is lucidity! Awareness of the One. The One wants to be revealed.  In a sense, the astral is phoney, because it leads no-where. Its a parking lot. There is no consequence to a bad-day.  I can do what I want without regret.  Only on the physical plane, can we organize and manage physics and see the outcome of our actions. Only on the physical plan is there a fast-judgement for bad behavior.  This is the gift!  I do apprecate the life the One gave me.  I'm often remined myself of an important phrase...From beyond time and through all eternity, the Beginning knew my name.  From nothing he called me forth, for I was one of his hidden treasures.  And in the end, I shall be recalled by the Light. In my theory, I take into consideration reincaration. Renewal on an epic scale.  Eventually we'll all begin to string together and remember our past-lives.  It'll piggyback patterns of desires which will portray a facet of ourselves that needs attention and fixing.  Fixing in the sense that once cured, it won't influence our behavior.  For example, human behavior that I see that bothers me is a cue that there is something inside me that I did in this life or in a prior life. It's a action that was wrong and I deeply regret. IT needs correcting (Tikune). As a matter of fact, it bothers me so much, that I need to fix it (psychotherapy)now!  Otherwise it won't go away. Once fixed, I'll be clean and ready to return to the source. Finally, my theory includes "desire".  The only thing different between you and me is desire. I can be female or male in my next life.  The only thing that motivates me is my desire to do so. My desire for revealing the One, defines my existence.

I hope somebody can comment on my theory.

Thanks
