This might sound daft to some, but how can you tell when your various chakra points have been opened, i realize from what i have read that the third eye is pretty obvious when it is open, (thats the one i'm working on at the moment btw) but i was wondering if thats the same for the crown and heart and the other main ones.

Not daft at all! It's a good question.
The most obvious thing you'll get when a chakra opens up is a tingling sensation on your skin around that chakra. This is due to the the surface of your skin reacting to the extra energy that is being concentrated around that site. You can also feel something of a rush of energy flowing through your body around a chakra that's just been opened.
