Hi Timeless,

you present a very strong argument for keeping stress in your life.

Stress may open some cracks, but it is unlikely to get you to know yourself fully because the simple nature of stress doesn't allow objective and or rational and or clear vision, reason or feeling.

From my experiences the best way (in my opinion) to get to know yourself is with outside guidance, someone who isn't emotionally involved and has no hidden agenda.

Having said that, it is possible to do it "on your own", but even then, you must rely on the universe to provide you with clues and messages and also be open to hearing them and realise they are applicable to you.

Your need to have acceptance from those around you and especially your parents is evident in the posting.

Can I suggest you focus on unconditional self love, I sense that you will find some things you have buried far quicker than by using stress.

With Much Love and Light,

I LOVE YOU ALL

Ah, stress may not allow for such conditions, but it is up to you to develop those conditions first. It's like kung fu- students without Iron palm training do not break concrete blocks with their hands, because their hands have not been conditioned to do so, nor do they have the technique. It's the same with stress. Outside of stress, one must reflect on the situation and the course of action they took. Some of our weaknesses can only be learned this way. Only then can they say to themselves during such a time, "This is how I'm going to deal with this situation." Many things seem impossible until one believes that they can do them. Nothing is really impossible. Where there's a will, there's a way. Willpower is what one should increase. When you have the willpower, you can do anything.

i think the greatest way to see who you are is to reflect on who you've been in the past. if you think you're a saint, but you look back on your life and see that you've bullied a bunch of people, then it's quite obvious you aren't a saint. you may think that you are calm and sophisticated, but upon looking back at who you've been you may realize that you fly off the handle every time someone says anything that you don't like.

it's a bit crushing too to realize that you aren't perfect, to see your flaws. seeing flaws in others and seeing greatness in yourself are two things that, unfortunately, come too easily to too many people. one should reverse that thinking and let them see the world for real, rather than through their own tainted window to it.

and upon seeing who you've been, you have a really good indication of who you are, which gives you a strong basis for being able to change who you will become. it takes time, effort, and mindfullness, but it can be, and sometimes has to be, done.

Stress is certainly something that is best done without, but having it in your life and learning to deal with it as a result can no doubt be very beneficial. It's a case of forcing you to take action that you otherwise wouldn't be bothered with.

As to learning more about yourself, one thing that seems to make an impression on me is the times when I detach myself emotionally from all around me and just observe. When I see others in a more objective, non-judgemental light, I start to see or recognise reflections of myself, characteristics & flaws that I otherwise would not see if I'm too distracted by everyday life around me.

Its all good.

Did you ever try existing as a rock would exist, with no feelings and no response to any stimuli? When you quiet your mind down, you learn a lot. Try going to some really nice place and just sit there and don't think. Keep your eyes open, look around you, but don't think or feel anything. It's interesting.

That's a wonderful feeling to sit and just take it all in with out thinking. It does take a lot of mental diciplin to shut off that constant commentary that goes on in your head, but when you can, things really do take on a light.
