Still the Mind

I learnt this meditation a long time ago. The purpose of it is to develop a seperate awareness within yourself, called the observational body. Simply sit down in a relaxed position and let your mind wander wherever it goes and listen to the thoughts that come to mind. Let them pass away and observe the energies generated in your mind. It is an excellent way to detach from old beliefs and patterns that one has built inside the mind. The observational body is developed apart from the general flow of thoughts and reactions. With practice this meditation can open the third eye so that other people's energies can be seen and understood. The main focus of the observational body is obviously to observe and detach from habits, but also to gain control and to silence the flow of the mind. Clarity develops when one detaches from the smoke screen of the mind, and the self-intended cultivation of the mind's patterns can begin to develop. This meditation is used to remove the suffering imposed from damaging thoughts projected onto oneself and others. The observational body can see these patterns and begin to effect change by guiding the thoughts to solutions. After some time in practice the mind can be cultivated to different purposes or forms, and can be shaped to generate well being, clarity, detachment, and overall positive being. At an advanced level one can see that the habitual thought patterns helps to sustain the view of the world one lives in, and with proper guidance the mind can begin to generate change in the world, to create new horizons to venture forth into. The first step is to 'step away' from the habitual pulls of the mind, to silence the internal dialogue and flow of energies, to suspend our judgements of the world, and to begin to see and cultivate a new way of perceiving.

Sounds good!  Although, I'm trying to understand what you mean by "observe the energies generated in your mind".

Can you, perhaps, clarify that a bit more?  Try to put it in more... common terms, perhaps?

Thanks!  :)

Oh and by the way... welcome to the Astral Pulse!

Thank you for the welcome.

I found that the mind can generate impulses and streams of consciousness. Depending on how one views the mind. So when I say to observe the energies generated from, or within, the mind, i mean simply to observe the `conscious flow`. If one wishes to, at this point, they can actually change the way our thoughts are experienced. For example when I was deep in meditation my thoughts became fruitful and rich, with deep insight and enlightenment. I observed the flow of my thoughts turn into honey, carrying the thoughts within the honey. I could sense the honey more than taste it.
