Ok, so I've been trying to experience my higher-self. I meditate for about 20 minures every night and I also sleep with a notebook by my bed to record any dreams I can remember. I am trying to become more peaceful, but my nature is to be uptight. I am kinda jumpy and scared of everything. I worry way to much and I know that there is a part of myself that knows I don't need to, but just telling myself that doesn't make the knot in my stomach go away. I have been a lot happier since I've started reading about different theories on the mysteries and wonder of the world. Sometimes I just can't shake the worry though. Is there any specific meditation technique or other things that anyone can suggest for me to try or will I get there eventually but it just takes time?

I also tend to be quite sensitive. Sometimes I think I absorb other peoples energy. The smallest thing makes me cry, a song on the radio or a beautiful sunset. When I was house shopping a few years ago, I could tell a lot by the way I felt when I went to see the house. If it didn't give me a calm feeling then it wasn't for me. The house that I bought made me feel calm and happy. One of my biggest issues is trust, I have very little for anyone, and I try to make everything that I want happen, rather than trusting that it will work out. I think trying to make everything happen is exhausting and so I am always worried that I forgot something....which won't happen unless I make it. I just need to calm down. My meditation achieves that...but only while I'm meditating. I need something that will allow me to keep that calm feeling aftwards.

As a teen an early adult I was a VERY anxious person. The simplest things could tie a knot in my belly. Not being in control of a situation was aggravating. Meditation and energy work helped level it out, and remnants still remain.

NEW energy work really helped me out a lot. At first, I remember some tough, energetic, emotional upheavals that NEW produced, but it leveled out very nicely after a week or 2. I think sticking to a dedicated schedule helps develop discipline which strengthens a person's constitution as well. You'll feel emotionally stronger and won't let others or situations get the best of your feelings, as well as gain a new perspective of yourself and the world around you, and you'll realize it's an advantage to life that most around you completely miss out on.

It sounds like you know what you want, so stick to your inner voice. You can't go wrong there.

Lately I have been wondering if my sensitivity is some sort of gift. I mean I am a visual artist and I guess my strong feellings about everything do translate into ideas for paintings. I am starting to wonder if I don't have a touch of clairsentience, I mean I was able to tell that my mother had passed before they told me. There have been instances with pets when I just knew too. I think maybe I just haven't learned to control it yet. Maybe I'll try meditating longer every once and a while, like 45 minutes or something.

I do know what I want, I want to be peaceful. So far I am healthy but I know that stress will cause problems for me later. Thanks again.

I was thinking some more about the sensitive thing...and I was realizing that I also fell things that other people feel...I mean I can't watch really gruseome scenes in horror movies and stuff...it's almost like I fell those things. Anyway so I was researching the NEW energy things you mentioned ( I had never heard of it) it seemed pretty interesting. I was playing around a little with it last night and today.It's so weird! I actually could feel things in my foot and then when I stop thinking about it the feeling went away...it's incredible. So I was reading that you could use this to heal certain ailments right? That is just amazing!!!

One thing I did that helped me grow spiritually is make a list of the issues that troubled me during my life. If you've been around for a while you might find it useful to divide your life into stages when you make list (e.g., elementary school, middle school, high school, college, first job, ect.). Once I found out what issues troubled me, I found a way to let go of them. One thing that helped me do so is becoming certain that a wonderful and infinite future awaits me. No sense in holding on to old issues, when the future is so bright. 

Prejudices, limiting belief systems, attachments/compulsions, fears, old hurts and anger issues can all limit your ability to make contact with your higher self.

Regarding dreams, I've analyzed thousands, and have found that they do come from our higher self/spirit guidance. There are exceptions, but the exceptions become fewer once your higher self/guidance realizes that you pay attention to your dreams.

I've communicated with my higher self/spirit guidance quite a bit during the past four years. I receive messages as thoughts, hear a voice, symbolic visual messages, waking dreams, regular dreams, and out of body experiences. Such contact has helped me immensely. Issues that I didn't include on the above mentioned list were brought to my attention.

Regarding energetic work, letting go of psychological issues did a lot to clear my energy flow quite naturally. I believe it is much better to clear up our energy by taking care of our issues, than making use of an energetic technique.  If we make use of an energetic technique, we might end up releasing an issue before we are ready to deal with it.  I've received a lot of energetic work from my spirit guidance. I've found that my spirit guidance knows precisely when it is okay to deal with an issue and get rid of an energetic block. Doing so has resulted in improved physical health. For example, I used to have lower back, upper back and neck pain. My lower back pain was really bad. I'd say that my back and neck problems are about 99% better. I still have a few energetic blocks, but I never get sharp stabbing pains like I used to. Just a little bit of tightness now and then.

Like Buddha,  Jesus was no bull artist when he tells us that " Heaven is Inside." The Hindus called this Heaven dreamless-sleep or Samadhi, alias Kundalini/Shakti.

Heaven is inside but the mind is too stupid to know it

If you want to change something about your personality, one effective way is to exercise that opposite quality of what you want to change. 

'Worry' is an ineffective way to deal with a situation.  The knot in your stomach just could be a coil of energy for you to utilize in doing something active about the situation that you are worried about. 

You might just change the word 'worry' to 'concern'.  Write the problem out on paper, externalize it then analyze it.  Break it down into smaller easier to handle parts.  Use your Reasoning power to overcome any sense of an emotional overwhelment.  If something makes you tense, try to look at it in a different way, a different light. 
Emotion can block reasoning power. 

And yes everything just takes time.  We invented Time you know.

because everything you are is a gift, you definatly should see your sensitivity as a gift. I would never try to get rid of such a precious thing, but maybe you could "fine tune" it a bit. play with it often and get used to what feelings happen when and exactly how they feel. Allow yourself to simply be you without changing anything. Over time you may find you can call on your feelings when you want to and block off feelings when you would rather not feel overloaded by them. Empathy is a powerful tool, the more you know about it and yourself, the more comfortable you'll be and in doing so, connecting to your higherself will be without difficulty, for you may find yourself already in touch with it without trying to be.

Progress yourself and your higherself will follow.
