its like one good thing happens then like 5 or 6 bad things happen is it just bad luck or is it to do with the purpose i choose to reincarnate to earth for

ANYTHING challenging that happens to us ALWAYS serves a purpose. You need to evaluate each challenge and think what could be the lesson for you behind it. It's not always easy to make that realization, but when you do and learn, believe me this type of challenge will not repeat itself. And yes, you have chosen to experience all that believe it or not. You are thinking now only through your very limiting perspective of the current personality of yours. Of course no one in their right mind LOL, would want anything bad to happen to them, but that is a human thinking. Even I, if I had a magic wand and with one wave can make this world perfect, I probably would, but that's why our higher spirits have removed that ability while experiencing lower realms, so that we don't remove the lessons we have set up. Our thoughts as humans are lead by instinct of survival, ego, etc, but that's ok. This is how we were meant to be, think and feel, for the purpose of learning.

I don't think we have decided everything we want to happen in our life...
I think when we reincarnate, we choose if we want our life to be difficult or easy knowing that the lessons learned from the difficult life will be more abundant, and the ones from the easy one will be almost non-existent.
There's also karma in action, with all we do. If you live an easy life and your spirit/consciousness is tired of it, even subconsciously, you will use karma to make things much harder.
Not only that but, if you have an easy life, one day or another, you'll start doing things unskilfully around you. You'll botch things up and people will see that you don't care anymore so karma will start working things out in order to show you how tough it can be.

Karma can extend itself to a very very long time, if you did something very bad, even if that was 30 years ago, it can still hit you one day.
Karma will remind you of what you did wrong that day. Every time you do something wrong, eventually you'll see it. Sometimes you understand what you did and you can fix things up (which will lower the karma effect on you later on), but it will still happen. If you live on the good side and purposely make things better for people around you without wanting anything in return. Karma gives it back in time of need.

Altho I think we have free-will and that whatever would be destined to happen to us can be changed, I still think there's somewhat a fate and a general direction as to which your spirit needs to undertake in order to achieve the higher-self that is hidden inside of you.
You can still do whatever you want tho, but one way or another, the lessons that you choose to learn when you reincarnated will happen one way or another. (If someone was destined to die for you to learn a lesson, it might not be the same person etc.)
At the end, we all end up dying so this is an unbendable fate in a certain way.

My guess is that if something bad happened to you 5-6 times in a row, karma is trying to make you understand what you did wrong. And it will keep going until you search the depts of your consciousness in order to find the reason why. Finding the reason why is only the first step tho, you need to understand what you did...

Or it can just be life challenges. No one can truly knows but yourself...
