Hi All.
The highest state of spiritual developement?  Perhaps it would be a peak experience for a human on this world and it would certainly be the highest level of awareness while in the body.  But, what happens after the experience?  We are still human, still living in our day to day world experiencing all the highs and lows of it. Without applying and working with the realizations gained from the experience we would really be not much better off.

So that is where what Timeless said comes into the equation in a more direct sense. Ego is a tool that usually controls us, so without it's mastery any other peak experience could well be just another step forward. [:)]

Love always.

I completely agree with the others.

I would just elaborate a bit further that once the kundalini has risen, the next step on the spiritual path, if you will, is applying that to your everyday life. Its not the end of development, but rather the beginning of the next stage of your journey.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

A materialist sees ONLY the physical body and ignores the other bodies that are just as much a part of our development.  For example, the average grade school teacher completely ignores the etheric body which can cause complications for the poor souls who do not receive proper understanding.  Many of these complications can result in heart attacks later in life (40's-50's), as the eurythmy of the individual becomes upset at such a tender age.  The human embryo cannot withstand the outside environment for the first 9 months.  Ergo, it stays inside of another body (i.e. the mother).  The other bodies have to be treated correctly to develop correctly before/when they are released.

"Know thyself."  To know ONLY the physical body is NOT to know thyself at all.

FYI: Many cults use the raising of the Kundalini as an inducement for membership.  It is important to understand what one is doing and why.  If it's done too often, one can resemble a crack head (i.e. harmful physical signs)!

A high level of spiritual development understands that sense gratification (as many people use Kundalini for) is not on the menu.  When one raises their level of consciousness, the urges go away.

The supression of the ego is, in fact, the apex of development.  In fact, Jesus of Nazareth was able to supress his ego for the Christ to dwell within him.  He is known as the world's greatest initiate.

The physical body is the most perfected of the bodies.  One would do well to learn of the other bodies and how to work with them.  Spiritual Science and Rosicrucianism are two sure paths to doing it right.

Reason it out: if spiritual development were ONLY about doing mere physical execrcises, we'd all be done!

One must pursue wisdom and bring it to life.  This requires many lives.  The search for truth is eternal...

Eastern esoteric schools gave us the term "Kundalini" but without a full, comprehensible defining.  This opened the doors, I feel, for the babble we see in books today.
These basic points are from an esoteric school, and I hope they will help point a finger at the correct ideal.
The only purpose for ALL esoteric training, is Change of BEing.  There is no other purpose or rationale they espouse.
To make things more comprehensible, schools of east and west try to draw a workable schematic of the universe.  Sort of like a big circle, if you will, with Source at the center, and our daily life out on the  edge.  To jump from the outer edge to the center CAN be done, but it results in too great a displacement of mental masses.  The person might take weeks or months to appear "sane" again.
Plato in his "Allegory of the Cave" gives an incredibly accurate depiction of this.  It is more than worth a serious read...and re-read.
Your inner work in, lets say, a cabalistic school might take you upward on the tree of life, one path at a time.  YOUR goal is to be able to shift your BEing from where you are, to BEing that path.  As You move up the tree each degree will often be labelled with a number such as 9=1.  This might (depending on the school) indicate "9 parts human, one part Source".  As you slowly raise the BEing level upward you have the ability to BE that path.  If you look at some of the old drawings of the tree you'll often see a serpent drawn as though it was following a specific path up the tree.   You can also see what the definition is, in esoteric schools, for "serpent".  (This requires use of Gematria in western work).
The reason, in talk about Kundalini, there is such a consideration that the base of the spine is important is that the energy from  Source enters the body elsewhere, and moves DOWN the spinal column.  As it next moves its way up the spinal complex, it is the energy of BE.  It give physical BEing to things it energizes.
At certain places in the body there are vortices which draw into the system energies that correspond to your level of BEing (consciousness) on that topic.  IF you train correctly, and the BEing is changed by your work, then the quality of what is sucked into your system through these vortices is changed.  You can spend aeons trying to "clean" these centers but this can be a waste of time.  Even Hercules learned the hard way you can't shovel out all the ______ in the stable.
As you Change Being, over time, you learn that the true meaning of the Golden Mean is how you have always lived.  The Golden Mean really translates as "Nature is to Man, as Man is to Source".  In other words, the "life" events that inflow to you are directly correlated to your relationship with Source.  If you don't like the outer conditions, change the BEing within.  THAT is real magic and is High Art.
I use a western example simply because eastern schools are not responsible for westerners, western schools are.  For that reason you might or might not get this data as simply stated in an eastern path.
If you truly feel an inner impeling force that leads you toward this thing you call "kundalini" I would counsel you to consider carefully what your true motive is.  The true one.  If it has anything to do with gaining "power" I would urge you to consider another path...like carpentry or plumbing.  If you join and work within a good school, you'll learn that there are three Pillars to the Tree.  Only one is labelled "power".  You should pray with all sincerity that you achieve the other two before you approach the door to the chamber marked "power", or if you choose not to follow my advice, you will read, albeit too late, the sign on the back side of that door as it closes behind you "Abandon hope all ye who enter here".

Actually the cabalistic Tree has three pillars, Wisdom, Love, and the ability to cause efects (power?).  You can put together several triads though.

The first question of this thread needs at least a small answer.  Of course you need to remember that schools of east and west can and do use different terminologies for the levesls of inner work.

When you speak of "raising" the kundalini, as I've written elsewhere, you are changing BEing.  As you move deeper and deeper inside, you find there is still "deeper and deeper" to go.  In the writings of India, some of the oldest known, they speak of levels beyond the one that most of humanity would call "God".  If you use the word "Source" it makes it a bit more simple and avoids the dogmatic nonsense so prevalent in these days.
When you have blended with the Source BEing for this universe, and you think you've got it made, you find that this universe is only one of many.  So you do further, deeper training and eventually arrive at the Manvantara Lords abode.  In time you'll experience the truth that there are 12 universes controlled (birthed, continued, destroyed) by the Manvantara.  When you train longer and deeper, assuming good quality work etc, you'll be able to enter a place where there are birthed 12 manvantara Lords.  And it goes still deeper, the details of which I won't belabor you with.
The best place, in this age, to experience these things is as an initiate in an esoteric school of India under DIRECT supervision of a SantSat Guru.  Doing this deeper work without such a teacher is like leaving a newborn in a lions cage after you rubbed steak juice all over him.  The forces you encounter need tempering until your system can handle them.  I've been knocked completely off the chair and unconscious several times by some of these forces...but when you pay your dues and have correct guidance you'll also reap the rewards a good work deserves.
Books today on this thing they call "kundalini" are a joke.  Not even a good one at that.
Find a good school with a living santsat guru and go to it.  Just remember true inner work is like sex with an angry alligator.  It CAN be done...you just have to do it right is all.

Damn straight, Wu.
If you can never kill pigs, why doesn't Gannon use 'em? -The age old question from the Legend of Zelda games.
