The White Light

I had often read about The White Light.  I once encountered it big-time in one of my Lucid Dreams.  I had been doing the Gayatri Mantra for about a year and think it may have had something to do with it.

In the Dream I suddenly became Lucid.  I was not wearing shoes, and that is a sign that you are on Holy Ground, and so I levitated up, got into a Lotus Position and intoned an AUM.  The air around me took on a violet-rosy-purplish hue and began to shimmer in waves and undulations.  Then about twenty feet in front of me the space just rent open.  Rip.  And this White Light poured out.  It was like Magnesium Light held before a Chromium Mirror.

Then it formed up into a Shape.  It was a very elaborate Paramahansa Swan – a Holy symbol for the Hindus.  Both the Self Realization Fellowship of Paramahansa Yogananda, and the Ramakrishna Vivekananda Centers have the Paramahansa Swans on their logos.  Anyway, it shot into my forehead.  It was very large and so it was startling that it could all go into my forehead, but it did.

Then another and another and another formed up and shot into my head.  And more.  But each time the Swan was formed up with less ornate complexity.  They simplified.  And as they became simpler, they formed up more quickly.  The rate increased.  Finally, they were shooting into my head more than a few times each second.  Then they were as simple as could be  -- just  winged "V"ees, as in the way young children draw flying birds.

I've seen the White Light again, rather recently.  But it was in a Meditation.  Just for a flash I saw the Blessed Virgin up on the summit of a steep hill, against a dark cloudy sky.  Her hands were held in the Our Lady of Grace pose – outstretched at an angle from Her sides with palms facing outward.  Beneath Her throat and above Her chest, where I would not ordinarily place a Chakra, there was an opening maybe six inches in diameter out of which poured that same White Light.  I thought about that placement of the light opening for weeks until I thought of a satisfying correlation.  When a Catholic 'crosses' himself, they go across from shoulder to shoulder.  The 'cross' is not really over the chest, but slightly above it, and below the throat.  Could it be that Catholics make for themselves an extra Chakra by that constant crossing of themselves?  Perhaps Our Lady has.

Oh, from the top, the Vision that I had of The Blessed Virgin in which there was a 5 or 6 inch diameter opening under Her Throat but above Her Chest from which White Light poured.  Apparently that is the Compassion Chakra.  How appropriate!
