hi there alt0xFF. The following is meant only to illustrate how re-incarnation could operate WITHOUT the existence of seperate souls for every new-born.

Re-incarnation theory can be viewed in different ways. A commonly held view is that an individual soul leads a physical life and either makes progress / regresses before dying and re-incarnating in another form.

In these terms, one would expect some kind of "soul factory" to be generating the spiritual stuff that is spread across all organisms. After all, the human population on earth has grown significantly during our history.

However, lets assume that we are not all seperate souls. I prefer to use the word "mind" instead of soul.

Imagine that this giant "mind" is a living organism of sorts. Just as raindrops fall into the sea and become part of a whole, and just as vapour is formed into clouds and new raindrops, a cycle develops. In this example we can see that the individual raindrops, which appear to have seperate properties, are actually part of a whole.

Consider the above view of how re-incarnation may operate. If a physical population grows or shrinks, each "individual" can still count on receiving a portion of "mind", small or large. This is also a function of the growth rate, if any, of the giant "mind" organism.

then you need to account for the fact that less advanced spirits need animal bodies, while more advanced need human/humanoid/alien bodies

While the advanced / less advanced spirits amongst us may meld into one within a non-physical environment, seperating them into higher / lower type physical organisms could be done in a similar manner to osmosis. The properties of a "mind" could be all that is needed for it to be "assigned" to a life-form.

I have the following question regarding the reincarnation theory.
According to the theory, self (soul) exists before, during, and after physical life; I.E. body of a newborn child is occupied by already existing spirit. This implies existence of available soul for each newborn, which is a bold assumption - you need a system that tracks every birth (insect, animal, human, alien, etc), maintains the supply of spirits, and guarantees assignment of exactly one (not zero or two) spirit to each and every newborn - and you need that system not simply to handle Earth, but the whole physical Universe! The matches need to be temporally synchronized; then you need to account for the fact that less advanced spirits need animal bodies, while more advanced need human/humanoid/alien bodies (if we do not restrict ourselves to Earth). That is WAY too complicated to be a workable theory.

What would happen if there is a newborn organism in the physical world (not necessarily human), capable of supporting a spirit, but there is shortage of those? Why do we never see it happen? Even the cloned Dolly sheep appeared as "spiritual" as its original counterpart. It is extremely likely that a cloned human would be "normal" in that regard as well, even if there was no conception.

Straightforward explanation would be that a new sentinel spirit is created to occupy the body, if none available. But then if something is creatable, then, by symmetry, it is also perishable, and the whole immortality business goes down the drain.

What do you think?
