Hi all, I was listening to Tom Campbell last night. I thought he was very interesting and was worthwhile listening to. Anyway, he was talking about meditation and he advised you to meditate during the day, not just once or twice a day. You can mediate when you are walking etc. What does it do for you if you meditate as much as possible? Thanks for your replies.
It makes you very calm and perceptive of your surroundings. That is if you have a base of knowledge to place your surroundings into.
Cheers,
Contenteo
Thanks Contenteo. I was meditating more often today and you are right. It helps to make you feel calmer and also helps to stop thinking about negative thoughts. I found it hard to meditate when I was pulling out weeds this afternoon. It is not a nice job to do. I kept thinking about other things. I am going to try to get into the habit of meditating during the day.
Taoist Calligraphers had a expression.
"Grinding the ink"
It took hours to make high grade ink, the most tedious process was grinding down fine particles of charcoal. It was considered, for all intensive purposes right now, a high level form of meditation. One would zen out to the task at hand. Being completely in the moment. Feeling the charcoal as it ground against the wood. Picking the weeds should be no different when you begin to explore the true depths of the power of meditation.
Best on your practices. :-D
Cheers,
Contenteo
Thanks for the information. You are right, I have to be in the moment, just like what you mentioned.
Hi,
When at work there are times when you have to do repetive actions. While these tasks are undertaken its easy to go into autopilot mode and listen to a book or meditate on your thoughts.
Its calming and relaxing, the stress of living melts away during these experiences.
I'd recommend taking this action as often as you can.
And try this one as well: http://vimeo.com/20767722
He gives a lot of great tips and advice on exactly what Tom is talking about.
I used to do meditation day and night and when I am walking. I really liked this link Xanth. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Xanth, that was great.
Yeah, Adyashanti really has a keen consciousness for this.

For me, it helps calm the mind, new ideas then come up about a present day goal or desire that I'm working towards. I try to be in the, 'now' when I'm walking to my local shop. When I'm in the, 'now' manifestation becomes that little bit easier...
It also helps me to love and respect life more :-)
I like meditating on the train. The train noises are relaxing.
