I was just wondering about what it would be like to meditate in a dream and i remembered a dream of mine from 6 or 7 months ago. In the dream i was this colorful band of energy and i merged with the very old, wise tree, and started going throughout its branches. When i reached the tips of all the branches, i experienced something divine. Oneness, cosmic consciousness, universal awareness. It was the most beautiful dream i've ever had. Anyone have experience with meditation in the dream world? Any differences and such? Sorry for the vagueness, but i'm excited at the thought and am not good at describing or labeling things.

AH:
I can remember reading years ago that if one meditates in the dream state, it accelerates their spiritual growth.

Your dream is beautiful and I would classify it more of a dream/experience showing you how you will grow spiritually and it sounds as if you are on the right path.

Serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace amid the storm.

Right on, thanks for the reply. That's a nice way to think about it. It truely was a beautiful/spiritual experience, and i will take it for what it is. Any more comments anyone? Thanks again, peace.

It seems like the only way to achieve enlightenment is to merge with something.

Never tried meditating in an LD. I think that's on the agenda for the next one.

This sounds like a Shaman meditation I read about once.

I think its called dream yoga, which I believe is practiced primarily in Tibet. I've always wanted to try it, but never remember at the right time, hehe.

Oh yeah!

I had a Dream Guru once who told me "Just a few seconds of Meditation in a Dream is worth thousands of hours of waking Meditation".

Mantra Meditation especially benefits.  Or Meditations on certain prayers.  You need only go through one repetition of the Mantra or Prayer, and you know right away whether there is any power in it.  It is revealed immediately.

I've learned always to begin a Lucid Dream by intoning an AUM.  An Aum will spiritualize things right from the start.

This is recurrent motif.  Aurobindo's ashram manager, Linda Richard (Mataji), once had the experience of meditating on a cherry tree that was in blossom, and suddenly she was the cherry tree.

In one of my big dreams I was introduced to a Christ-like Saint who seemed to prove his Divinity because his aura spread out all around and was in every bush, tree and blad of grass.

This demonstrates that All Life is One Life -- the Life in All things, which is the Cosmic Christ.  Esoteric Christians speak of it as The Vine of Christ.

hmm...I also remember I meditated in a dream, yeah...Aldough I didn't really notice I was dreaming. I was attempting projection and I was lying on a bed (in the middle of the street lol) so anyway, I used the ROPE technique and I...I could feel my astral body lifting up and I remember how light I felt, as if I didn't weigh anything, very cool. In the psychical I have never achieved something like this.
...Fascinating!  :D
