Some of the people I know have adopted a mindset of "when your dead, your dead"

This includes my father.

A religious friend of mine says that in the bible the soul dies with the body and the soul gets resurrected. I'm like ha? WTF?

How can the soul die? How can we just cease to exist? I am a conscious energy body (if you will) and I just can't understand/accept nonexistence.

I am guessing:
Those who think you "when you're dead, you're dead" probably don't believe you have a soul but you have a brain which is made out of atoms and nothing more. When the brain gets supply cut of it dies (oxygen) and when you don't have a brain you can't think and there is nothing left of you. They probably think, I am my brain and without my brain I'm not me.

I used to think like that, now I'm not sure if we have an immortal soul or we die when we die. I'm hoping that we have an immortal soul, but I am not sure of it yet.

Non-existence is unattainable, it is an illusion. The notion belongs to the mind, not reality.

Lots of souls dont exist. My great great grandfather Keenzor Klaktic for example. He never existed.
