Lately I've been trying to understand my spiritual development. I've been reading Deepak Chopra and other authors who talk about the path and enlightenment, but I can't seem to get over my own fear. My ego is very difficult to let go of. Then the concept that I am constantly creating my own reality and I will eventually realize my consciousness created everything and my intelligence exists in a void seems horribly lonely. I know it's my ego telling me that I need others and not my true consciousness, but I'm very anxious. Some things I tell myself to feel better is that "I" am not really alone because all others are aspects of myself, but that just leads to circular thinking on my part. Maybe I'm just not ready.

if you knew all about karma and reincarnation you'd be S***ing yourself.

It can be a lot to get your head round to start with... But here's one point of view that might help; Some souls travel in groups, and reincarnate together. It could be that your friends will not only be with you in this life but future ones aswell, hows that for alone? :-)

the bhagavad gita is pretty much the authority on reincarnation (and the entire spiritual way of life) spoken by krishna (god) to arjuna over 5000 years ago.

you can find it in audio format here http://www.krishna.com/node/915

I agree with you. The notion that your thoughts create your reality can be scary. And now you're these fearful thoughts, and become fearful that your fear about creating reality is creating a fear-based reality. It can be very daunting. I don't know whether to tackle the beast head on or ignore it. I usually ignore it.

But from this great truth comes great power... although usually what happens in my case is i say dumb things on a whim like "I want to go to paris" and all of a sudden over the next few weeks everywhere I go I see or hear something about paris. It will happen eventually :)

If your clever its not scary at all for instance if you find it scary (or lonely) then logic would suggest all you have to do is think "i want it to feel safe" or "I want to feel companionship"

yes Mez that's how I choose to tackle it. I believe in angels and that helps a lot. I ask them to help remove my fears. I don't have a problem with this, I'm actually able to overcome this fear, I just thought the poster would be able to relate, because it was certainly a daunting fear
