Hey Guys,
A little help needed. What posture do you guys meditate in? I cant really find a comfortable posture. When I sit on the floor with legs crossed, I cant keep my back like staright. Its like bending down, inwards. When I try to sit total straight like some soldier, It hurts and am not comortable and therefore cant meditate. I usually meditate on the pain I get!
Any advice? Also, when you guys get done meditating dont you feel tired? What about your eyes? Your eyes feel like they just woke up from sleep. They are heavy, hard to open etc. You know the morning feeling ;)

I assume that shamanic journeying counts as meditation--anyway, for that, I get supine, put on the headphones for the sonic driving, put my arms in the "bear" healing posture, and go from there.

The posture you choose should be whatever is comfortable to you.

I use my recliner chair - and I mean "use" it.  I recline it to about 60 degrees, so that my back, neck and shoulders are supported - I'm not one for the hardships in life

If you feel pain, that's not going to help.
Relax and find a comfortable position.

Yes, sometimes I feel tired after I meditate - occasionally I go to sleep.

And sometimes I on feel top of the world and want to dance!

As long as you have a fairly good posture, for all the energy to flow easily, then you can sit or lay however is most comfortable for you.  I know people that lay on thier bed and meditate.  For me, that is a signal for sleep, but if it works for you, go with it.

Generally you should feel better, more awake, after meditation.  But when you first come back you may not want to open your eyes - just like first thing in the morning.  This is different for everyone, so don't worry.

Hi.  I have used many and varied positions.  The classic lotus position supports the back and can be quite comfortable.  Some people try to tell me that crossing one's legs breaks energy, but I have not found this to be true. I have sat on hard-backed chairs, lain on bed, sand, grass - under the stars and in the sun.  I have meditated in the bath, and on the bus. I have meditated whilst walking.

If it gets you there - its the right thing for you, for now.

Give yourself a message to return from your meditations energised to the moment. (you don't want to be zappy if it's beddy-bye time, and you don't want to be snoozy if it's basketball time!).
