I've been wondering what people mean when they say "spiritual awakening." What are the signs of one? What are the benefits? Could somebody please explain to me what they are, what is happening, and how exactly would I go about awakening my spirit?
How much longer must you remain in this dream before you finally figure out if you're insane or a genius?

Hey, it's seems (bcoz of your posts) that you have a lot of questions (like all of us)... I suggest you going to "World Religions" or "Spiritual Evolution" from the main forum index.

Understanding what being "Enlightened", "Awake", "In the Present Moment", is not the same as to experience it....
Anyway, these are a few things that those people claim too feel:

A complete understanding of "The Big Picture".
Being in the Present Moment almost all the time.
No worries about the future. No guilt from the past.

There are a few books that may be helpful:
"I Am That" or "The Power Of Now".

Good luck on your journey :)

Magic.

Usually its when you feel you have gained some piece of knowledge that makes you seem as though you finally get the big picture so to speak (or at least you think you've locked in one more puzzle piece towards the solution)  and this newfound enlightenment is usually accompanied by a feeling of losing a mass burden that has been hanging over your life. I would say the first time this happens is your real spiritual awakening. However, alot of people constantly undergo this re-awakened experience as they discover something new and constantly revamp their idea of the big picture. Real enlightenment (I think) is in realizing that you know nothing and then being ok with it.

Its a lot like waking up for the first time, everything looks different, because you can see the big picture. Its also the most shocking moment of you life, like avery big 'WOOOAAAHHH!!' moment  (It was for me anyway   )
Dont look at the world around you with your eyes, use your soul, and you will see more then you have ever imagined.
