I personally believe they have helped me grow spiritually. No doubt about it.

I think we all take from the experience what we want. For example, even before having any OBE's, I was always a 'helpful' person. I didn't know much about the spiritual side of things, persay, but I had a good heart. Now that I'm able to have OBE's/AP's, these give me more experiences which have opened my eyes to a whole new world out there. What happeend was that it took this good hearted guy, and made him look at everything with a spiritual filter over his eyes.
Now everything I do revolves around my knowledge of the astral realm. For example, I'm going to a Halloween party tomorrow night. I have the option to get wasted and pass out if I want to.....but the first thing that goes through my head is, "Jeff, you know that if you drink too much, you're going to have your head spinning, and there would be no way in hell that you could project tonight." You see, for me now, everything revolves around my projections.
Because of this outlook, I not only look at life differently but my hunger for learning and controlling these experiences has become a huge desire in my life.

I don't know how to tell you what I may be doing that you're not. However, I know that many people who OBE/AP smoke cigarettes....and this is an example of how I could never do that....since knowing that smoking causes cancer and an unbelievably horrible death, I don't understand why one would do that when there is so much more out there to experience. If I wasn't an OBE'er, I probably wouldn't think like that and I could care less what the effects of smoking were.
That isn't to say that smokers are less spiritual than others, so don't misunderstand me. But to use an anology, if fish knew they could breathe underwater, why would they use scuba gear?
Just my two cents.

Hey Jeff......I thought about what you said.....and that is exactly why I want to have an obe. Earlier today me and my dad were having a 'debate' on religion....and ofcourse I knew I was right....and my dad knew he was right. But later on in the discussion we started talking about obe's....ofcourse I brought it up. And basically I said why the hell should we debate about religion when the whole spiritual realm is ours to explore. I mean why believe a 2000 year old book (bible) when you can find out for yourself if Jesus is real. Catching my drift? I mean why believe a book when you can talk to Jesus yourself. Personally I don't believe in Jesus....but thats besides the point. Jeff.....I'm just REALLY eager to learn and to grow......to experience......what its like in the nonphysical dimensions. You must of had this strong desire that I have right now....because your an astral projector. I would love to hear what motivated you to explore obe's.

It seems that you and I both had the same motivations. I've always been interested in the paranormal, even though as a kid, I never thought that an average person like myself would be able to experience anything like this.
Then, after having my first experience 10/4/98, it completely blew my mind. I was fairly religious in my thinking at the time, so my main goal was to use my OBE experiences to strengthen my Christian beliefs.
Well, it started to have the opposite effect with me. While my experiences have never proven or disproven the existence of Jesus, they did open my eyes to a lot of religious garbage that we're being taught by today's churches.
For example, a lot of religious institutions have the right intentions, but they're all just a little bit off the mark. Some promote fasting, which in itself is not a bad thing, because he weakens your body a little bit to be more open to spiritual things. However, they shadow any good intentions with a bunch of crap, like "you can't wear certain clothing" or "you can't drink alcohol", etc. Obviously these regulations depend on the specific church you're attending, but you get my point. With many religions, there is a lot of "controlling" which has nothing to do with your spirituality.
It's like being raised in a zoo, but being fed human food. Sure, you're getting fed and you're slowly growing, but you can probably develop faster and more efficiently in a better environment.
Anyway, now when I project, my intention is NOT religious at all. I've already developed my own belief system based on my experiences. Now my intention is to learn how to induce these at will with 100% success. That's my first and foremost intention. Second, when I find myself 'out', my goal is to establish some kind of relationship with a guide so I can always return to him for more instruction. This has yet to happen for me, so this is why it's still a goal of mine. After I accomplish that one, I'm sure I would like to help others who are lost in the astral realm to find their way to their respected destinations.
One thing I've learned through all of this, is that you're outlook on your experiences constantly changes. With each projection, you start developing a belief system as to what these are all about. In the beginning, I thought I was allowed to do this in order to prove the validity of the Bible. Now, my perspective is completely different. We all take what we can from our experiences. No people will ever see the same exact thing, because we all see things from unique perspectives. As long as we are growing as spiritual beings, then I feel that we're accomplishing our mission in this life on Earth.
