Heaven is the place where all the beleivers of the True Son of God Jesus Chrsit reside.
It is a place free from sin because only those who serve the True God are allowed in.
It is a place where the ressurected in Christ go and reside in spiritual, indestructible bodies.
The Bible and its message is Absolute Truth which is backed up by prophecy. In the Bible there are numerous descriptions as to the nature of heaven but first you MUST be called by the Father to the cross.
All the unbeleivers on this board will never know the real power of God until God DECIDES to call you. You will never see the heavenly city of Light unless you let go of your man made false doctrines and accept Absolute Truth.
Oh yes and heaven has many angels and the Son of Man on the Throne.
Hope to see all you there.

Oh. Was that Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Zeus, Brahma, Ra, or Enki again? I forgot.

hahaha... i think you need to take another look at your religion.
anyway, la foret mauve, i'm not a christian, so i couldn't tell you what the christian heaven should be like, but a friend of mine is taking classes for becoming a medium. during one of his classes, he talked to a relative that passed away recently... the deceased person stated that life after death is not how we expect it to be, that he will be busy for a while, that he is feeling very blissful, and that he is with relatives. i wonder what he's busy doing, in this otherworld?
Enki [8D]
I think the idea of heaven was inspired by a visit to the realm above the one Robert Bruce calls the 'Buddhic Plane.' The plane above that one (I can't remember its name) is supposed to resemble heaven as the Christians describe it.

The last time someone told me that, it was a muslim [:D]
Thank you for all your answers, please feel free to describe it more precisely...
Any more inputs ?

The True God is the One that led a perfect life, performed miracles, and most importantly died for YOUR sins and ressurected from the dead.
His name is Jesus Christ and He prepares a place for those who will beleive on Him even though it can be very hard when the world tells you NO.
Your Rama, Ra, Buddha etc are all dead in there graves or are demons in disguise. NONE HAVE CONQUERED DEATH SAVE ONE.
Oh, go look up bodhisattvas and I'm sure you'll find that many more have conquered "death" on the material plane.
Oh I forgot, they must have been aided by Satan.
lol, Tab... That's a good point. Anything unexplainable that wasn't done by a Christian is the work of Satan. Right, Allanon?
Of course, because only christians can master the True Power Of God. Oh excrement my mom just flew out my window with christian power.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
The gospel thumpers have returned to 'save' all us sinners from Satan's tricks!
Jesus Christ is the only 'absolute truth', he is 'our' lord...... yeah right.
Sorry mate, he's yours.

Some advice:
This site usually tries to be pluralist, that is we try to tolerate all religions and spititual paths as being equal and valid (even if different) ways of looking at the light, so to speak.
However, hardline fundamentalist preaching will not be received well.
Most people take offence at being told that because they don't share the views of the preacher, that they are in error and in need of 'saving'. This goes for hardline tactics promoted by any religion, not just christianity.
BTW, as an ancient history student myself, I find it particularily amusing about how you think we should accept 'christ the lord' over 'man made religions'.... oh dear, you ARE in for a shock!

Douglas

You voice an apparent bitterness toward Christianity. So why are you requesting a Christian's point of view?
Are you judging a religious system by the personal experience you had back then? Are you letting detractors effect your personal journey? The opposition is everywhere.
What are some of the contradictions you speak about?
If the subject of heaven was one of your favorite things to think about, why did you stop?
Heaven to me is peace, harmony, contentment, and much more. It's my ideal environment. The journey is full of surprises with twists and turns. Heaven is the ultimate goal, getting there is half the fun.
It's not about religion in the long run. Religion is a spring board. Don't let the springboard or the others around you trip you up.
Wisp there is only One path that leads to Heaven. You see Heaven is a place of perfection where only those THAT HAVE NEVER SINNED are allowed. The only Way you can get in the pearly gates is to let Christ take your place at the time of the judgement. There is no other Way. It is really quite simple. Your man made religons are your way of forgeting the horrible state of the nature of man. Accept Jesus and inherit Eternal Life!!!!!
um, allanon... i have a question... all those people that existed before jesus was born... that lived and died before he was even "conceived" or whatever you want to call it... they are burning in hell just because jesus didn't even exist yet, and no one knew he would come along? how was anyone supposed to worship him when he didn't exist yet? why would God do that, condemn all those innocent people to burn because of something they had no control of? if you really think about your God, and the logic (or lack of logic) he uses, well, frankly, he sounds like a real *sshole, and i'd rather "chill" with in hell with all the cool people.
Heaven? It's a movie....

- So sorry for the unvolontary bitterness[B)]...it's just that i was wondering how the other people, who kept the christian system were dealing with the idea of heaven
Are you judging a religious system by the personal experience you had back then? Are you letting detractors effect your personal journey?
- I am just curious and ready to check if i am missing something...
What are some of the contradictions you speak about?
Because the traditional decription of the heaven was a place were you meet all your familly members who were dead. For example i could imagine me meeting my grand parents but i could imagine them only with theyr "old" physical appearance and i thinked that my grand parents wouldn't keep this appearance in the paradise but that they would look young again...i couldn't help thinking that i wasn't sure that i wanted to meet them young. Weird i know [|)]
I couldn't stop thinking that a place where you are eternally happy must be very boring in the long run, comparatively to the incredible complex and amazing world in wich we are living NOW. And maybe the idea to see my deceased dog flying from cloud to cloud with little wings in the back embarassed me a little [|)]
After experimenting the fact that we are just a part of the universe, temporaly assembled in an human form with a consciousness (how lucky lucky we are) with a name, an history and that, after death, we'll dissolve in all the universe...i stopped to think about the idea of paradise, nor reincarnations, etc. I appeared to me just like a way for our temporal egos to not be afrais of death that's all. I prefer "return" to the universe than keeping my little, narrow myself for the eternity (Amen).
If the subject of heaven was one of your favorite things to think about, why did you stop?
- because it was too "childish" in my opinion... hey, i was a child[;)]
Anyway, that's just my opinions...[B)]
Allanon:
You may be getting your self disipline mixed up with your application of practice. Jesus had a message. Jesus never claimed himself a diety. He is the son of God. The bible is a tool used for learning and understanding oneself. Jesus put in practice his disiplined belief. After Jesus died on the cross his diety is a matter of personal interpretation. "Follow me", according to Jesus can be seen as, "See how it is done". He speaks of a kingdom to come. Does one choose to live in the day when touching his garment brought healing, or live in the day to come? I believe we are living in the days he spoke about. My choice is to use my God given ability to think and learn. Jesus is there for me all the way.
You make your choice too, Jesus is a diety to you because you believe this way, good ( He is). I choose Jesus as my friend. And I thank God for him. Right now in my path, my friend is showing me a new dimension. A world in which he is in, but for now, standing on the other side of my window. There is much to learn with him on the other side of the window. I am no less faithful because of this!
LA FORET MAUVE:
Thank you for the interesting response. I couldn't tell how serious you were about religion until your answer.
What you say makes perfect sense. Heaven is just what it is suppose to be. If heaven to you would be an incredible complex and amazing world, then it is, or will be. Isn't that what heaven on earth is about?
I personally think if we don't know what heaven can be while we're alive on earth, how will we know what heaven is in another realm of existence. [:)]
Aha! So, since I'm a jew, and christianity is jews who followed jesus instead, we don't get to go to heaven. I see...

Curious girl,
Those that were before the time of Christ were under the Old Covenant that God made with the people. Howevewr Christ fulfilled the LAW FOR ALL TIME so it is possible that the rules on those before the Messiah are different.
Heaven? The Earth we live upon and the sky that surrounds it is Heaven, we are all simply blind to see it - to see its beauty.
-Ever sat and watched a sunset?
-Ever stood on a cliff top and looked out over the ocean and felt the soothing wind?
-Ever walked along the scottish highlands with drizzle raining down upon your face? Ever traversed the Amazon rainforest?
-Ever flown upon a glider high in the sky and looked down upon the Earth?
-Ever laid on the ground in a quiet place at night and looked toward the sky and looked a the moon and the stars?
WE ARE IN HEAVEN!!!!
Ever lived in a ghetto in a city?
Ever been in a war?
Ever had everything you own destroyed by natural disaster?
Ever been robbed, beaten, raped, etc?
You musn't forget that as many good traits as our world has, it's got an equal number of bad. We may be in heaven, but we're also in hell.

Yeh, WE are the one's who make it HELL.
We are the ones who turn this heaven into a excrement place to be. No wonder so many people want to look elsewhere for a better place if all we can do is destroy the planet and hurt eachother.
If God existed and we all died right now and went to Gods heaven I can honestly believe that eventually we'd end up turning it into a excrement hole and make war with eachother.

That is why only those that are in agreement with the Mind of Chrsit may enter the gates.
Romans 12:1
Therefore I urge you, Brothers, in view of God's mercy, to make your bodies as living sacrifices, Holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship.

OK. To both of you... I don't know what religion you are(or branch of christianity... but I was brought up Roman Catholic. Most branches of christianity believe that Christ descended into Hell for three days and preached to the people there, he then asked the people to follow him up to heaven if they accept Him as their Savior. Some did, and some chose not to. So you see, it was their choice and no one else's. Dont listen to Allanon's obviously warped and over-zealous christian views. So far all he's proven is that he's dumb and doesnt know a whole lot. He seems to be an extremist of sorts to me. So Allanon get off your High Horse and stop forcing your beliefs on others. Free will, God made us with it and people choose their own religion or non at all IT'S THEIR CHOICE! So cut it out plz. thx.

Heaven, it is said by priests at my school, is not an actual, physical place, but more of a frame of mind. You don't go UP to heaven, you're just there. Whoever you want to see or be around will be there, whatever you want to do will be open to you. Hell is not what most people think of it, there's nobody down there who's going to stab you with forks all day, or make you climb stairs for the rest of eternity, but it is rather an eternal separation from God. Just the fact that you will never be able to experience Him again is what Hell is. Another frame of mind.
Sorry to be such a downer but the creation stories such as Adam and Eve, Cane and Abel, those are just stories. They were written down to explain the inexplicable(such as how things were created and how evil came about in the world). How God truely created humans or all living things, we probly wont know 'till we're in Heaven. But God still did create us and all things. Neways I just got waaaayyy off topic. Anywho, that was way too serious for me, I have to go back to my normal randomness. [:P]
Ok first I would like to point out that silverknight has a nice picture :). Next, I feel everyone has thier own heavenly place. EI- When you die, you are so worried about "Heaven" But what you like most in live, will live forever with you. So if Allanon believes in Jesus(which we know he does :)) Then he will find him in his heaven. Some may experiance a place from earth, with all of the people that they know. This is my personal belief so please don't preach to me as it will do no good, I am who I am who I am...hehehe sorry for the broken record!

If god makes me go to heaven, I'll kill myself!
Allanon,I recommend reading a book by Sicthin. It will broaden your ideas. It will also test that Christianity of yours.
pml, I just wanted to let you know that your Rosicrucian stuff has given me SOME hope that Christianity hasn't lost all wisdom and meaning just yet. The teachings seem to faithfully echo their proper origins in the Kabala and other ancient mystical systems of thought. They also ring true to the teachings of Blavatsky, which is music to my ears.
I gave a few family members some of the Rosicrucian diagrams and pamphlets on the death process and reincarnation as consolation for a recently deceased aunt. Since they're all dogmatic mainstream christians, I figured they would give Christian mysticism (which I've honestly never seen before) a stronger second glance than my usual Vedic or Theosophic stuff.

The movement you need is on your shoulders...
If you and I were to see something in the spiritual world, we would both describe it differently. Ergo, my understanding of heaven might not match yours.
I can tell you this: Heaven is not some physical place that we hang our hats at to sit around, relax, and do nothing. Isn't it a curiosity that this is often how it is described? It's as though people want death (unrealizingly).
The first step is asking questions. So, if you're here (i.e. on this board), you've already moved in the right direction. The next step is learning to ask the right questions (if you ask the right questions, you'll get the right answers).
I was a good christian when i was young but decided to save my soul and dropped out it...
They were one thing that was one of my favorite subject of thinking when i was christian, that was Heaven, this strange place with all its little contradictions...
I want to ask to the christian here what is your image of the Heaven ? Please describe it [:D]
