Rutantia, shamanism is a big topic.  Are you interested in historical shamanism, the way things have been done for centuries and more ?   Or are you interested in an evolving shamanic way, the way outside the box ?  Info on the first is everywhere today,  there are thousands of books for that.  But the second one comes from directly experiencing your Self,  if it's in you it has been there since birth.  Few shamans are 'made'.  Have fun with it.

Well, to be honest and blunt, I have been extremely UNimpressed with the various religions of the world. [:(!]
Shamanism (and its 'cousins')appears to be pro-humanity, and a non-religious way to explore the facets of your being.

I fully understand that things evolve -things that don't work, go away.  Things that do work, get improved upon.  Saying that, I'm interested in something that works, not just because it may be traditional.

BB, has hit the nail on the head.  Journeying is how I learned, by doing it.  There is no substitue for having the experience.  Don't forget to have fun with it though, as too much seriousness doesn't help.

I have tried OOB, but I guess not enough.  What is the best resource for learning?
I've had lucid dreams before...

A shaman is someone who works with his/her dreams to enhance life. I wouldn't say that shamanism is a kind of religion. It's not like Christianity or whatever. The gift of dreaming and astral travel is for everybody. The best book I've read on the subject is 'Dream Gates' by Robert Moss. I know I've mentioned this book a few times in the forum already, but it's a MUST! The author practices shamanic ways and is a very good teacher.

Hello lucid dancer,

Thanks for the heads-up on Robert Moss.I`m about half way through his "Conscious Dreaming" book and am finding it very informative.I like the way he combines the traditional shamanistic approach with some more modern ideas. He`s also a good writer which makes for an enjoyable read.I`m looking forward to his other books.

Happy Trails

Hi Folks.
Lucid's description of Shamanism is very confined.  Evolving shamanism comes from outside the box, it can not be pidgeon-holed, otherwise it becomes stagnant.  Many of the old ways still work very well, but, they apply to where we have come from and not to where we are going.  The two are very different.  There is no set pattern to learning, change is the only true constant in the Universe.

As Souls, we already have all the answers inside us, we have Guides who want to help us to learn and grow, to become Self-empowered so that we may be clear and strong in the times ahead.  You chose to be on the Earth during these times, so you as a Soul know your life-path, your contracts with others (Karma), and the best way to come to know this information is from looking at it from within.

No-one outside of you can do it for you, only from directly experiencing your nature as a Soul can you then grow to know your place and path here.  Shamanism is evolving, it is within, and so there you must look.  Please don't confine your possibilites for experience by having beliefs about it, that way does not work.  Any experience you have would be confined by the box that any belief comes from.  So open mindedness and a willingness to push the boundaries are what sets a Soul on the path to Self-empowerment apart from the herd.

I found from experience that the simplest methods produce the greatest results.  Simple things like white lighting your Self and clearing your chakras will enhance any experience, it is an easy preparation for anyone to do.  For the first couple of spirit journeys, I travelled up the white light as it was an easy way to 'get out'.  I did this until I learnt for my-Self what way worked easiest for me, the same will be true for all people.  Once you use this simple method, you will master it quickly if you do it very regularly, and from there you can meet and work with your own Guidance, in whatever form it takes.

From that point on many doors can be opened to you.  Your Guides will not lie to you, they are contracted to help and that is what they are waiting to do, you must make the first step of meeting them.  Do this with intention and it will work fine. A Shaman you are if that was the path you chose before your incarnation here.

Sorry bout the reply being soooooooo long.   Love always.

sorry about my description being so short. I'm not a very good writer, that's why I suggested a book to read (one of the best). A shaman travels using dreams and projections, actually thay would say a dream IS a projection. You go and speak with your animal spirit guides and you can meet Gods and Goddesses. You can even speak to inanimate objects in dreams. You could have many experiences of power both internal and external of yourself. They travel through time easily too.
