What is spirituality?

Hey everybody,.

I have a simple question,. what is spirituality and what (IYO)  is the 'soul'
The reason I ask is that for a few years now I have been what I would consider an atheist,. I believe in no god an no religion,. but here's where it gets tricky,.

I have recently been exploring the idea of OBE's,. I've been a lucid dreamer for a long as I can remember and have been meditating for about a month now,. sooooo,. the other night I had a bonified OBE (see http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_projection_experiences/my_first_ap_any_advise_really_appreciated-t44997.0.html) and its caused me to question everything I believe in,.

So now I'm asking myself,. what part of me left my body?,. was it my soul? if so what does that mean?

This is about the most complicated question one can ask.

Although complicated... my simple answer is: The search for yourself.

My perspective is that you're not IN your body to begin with.  You can't leave that which you're not already in.
You're consciousness.  Everything around you is consciousness and a part of you.  You are the wave... AND you are the ocean.  You are not the wave IN the ocean, you ARE the ocean.

You left your body in the same way that the wave leaves the ocean and then goes back to it.

The boys are on a roll. Okay I got a new one for you the parable of the vine and branches. " I am the Vine you are the branches apart from me you can do nothing ...ect.   Okay it's leaving your branch and exploring the vine. In order to do that you have to go within.

I don't think spirituality could ever have one definition.  It's such a vast topic.  But a good place to start could be opening your mind to all the different forms of consciousness we can percieve

That can actually be summed up as: finding the truth of your being as it pertains to you.

Note that it's the truth of YOUR being.  If you're a seeker of your truth, and you try to do so as unbiased as you can, then you WILL eventually find it.

This is brilliant,. thanks everyone,. I believe I'm on the right path,. I'm basically just trying to quite everything down (my mind and temporal stuff) and look within,. it was never intentionally trying to be 'spiritual' or anything,. but since I started meditating I can see a difference in my self,. the things I value and the way I see and treat others,.
The thing that really shocked me was when I had an OBE because it just opened up so many questions in my mind,. biggest of which being 'do we have souls',. I mean we must do right? theres no other explanation for what I experienced,. I'm an experienced lucid dreamer and have had dreams of all kinds,. this 100% was not a dream,.

I'm now caught between my old 3 dimensional way of thinking and a new x dimensional way of thinking and I'm just trying to figure it out.

As you further your knowledge of the NP you'll begin to find a different personality developing within yourself. This is totally seperate from the physical you and cannot be implemented in any way in the physical world. However the influence it has is great and you become a more spiritual (to label it) thinker.
It may be what the monks call 'being on the road to enlightenment.'
It's having those afterthoughts before the event.
An asset if you can keep it in mind.

I don't think there is such thing as "Non Physical."  People label other planes/realms as "non physical when every plane can be just as physical or non physical as every other plane.  It's only the difference of whether your consciousness is "here right now" or "over there on a different plane."  It's all about where your consciousness is and what you're perceiving and experiencing.
