Where can I find meditation techniques?

Meditation is always a good thing (usually?). There are many different ways of doing it from more traditions than I know of. The lotus posture is a good choice. Placing the tips of the thumbs to the tips of the index fingers helps for reasons of energy. The tip of the tongue should go up to the upper palate by the upper teeth because the tongue then connects two of the main channels in the body. The back should be kept straight but not unnaturally so. Relaxation is very important, but not to the point of causing the mind to fade or become drowsy. As you relax, your breathing will become easier and your posture will get better. This will help with relaxation and your breathing will continue to be slower and with less effort. Focussing on your physical body is a good place to start. The breathing is very important in many traditions. With some practice, you will be able to hold your posture with much less effort. With this foundation, it will be easier to practice the meditation technique you end up with. You don't have to look for anything else unless you really want to.

Thanks for the reply Tom. Could you or anyone else recommend any downloadable meditation guides as i usually like to read and learn about what I am about to do before i do it. At the moment i dont feel confident with the knowledge i have about meditation. I am in search for a little more info before i put it to the test. Thanks

Hey, Aussie_swede.

Try www.beliefnet.com. There are some meditation guides there. I am not sure about about "true" meditation, but there are different styles for different things. You might also check the download area on this website. I cannot remember if articles were posted there, or not.

Best of luck.

My whole point was that you should stop reading and just try the very simple method I described. When your posture is perfect, your breathing is effortless, your body is completely relaxed, and your mind remains alert then you can choose a more specific method. Until then it would be best to just post here about specific obstacles you are encountering so we can suggest ways to counter them. Not only is your time better spent in meditation than in reading about meditation, but also the extra reading can actually interfere with your attempts to meditate. What you need to cultivate now are balance and stability. Clarity is good, but resist the temptation to cultivate it before you have some stability and balance. I mean this both mentally and physically. Just watch your body and let the thoughts go through your mind unchallenged. When your body relaxes, your breathing improves, and your posture is so that you are not using muscles to hold yourself in place then the internal dialogue will slow on its own. Blocked energy tends to express itself as the internal dialogue. If anything, I have probably said much more than I should have to get you started.

I am just beginning my journey into viewing Aura's and hopefully working with Chakra healing sometime in the future. I feel that if i learn this ability then I will be able to help others with some kind of Chakra or Universal healing. I first would like to know some techniques on how to meditate. Is there an old forum that has this information or training guides on this site? If not and you know of a link then it would be greatly appreciated! I have just downloaded the update Aura viewing guide and the NEW information. Im very excited to start reading them!

Thanks
