Title: Working with science
Post by: yormie on March 04, 2005, 06:56:51
I believe that people who can project fairly efficiently should be looking to work in studies with scientists (fairly open minded ones). Nothing would move us forwards faster as a race, at the moment, than scientists saying "hang on, there might be something in this". I believe that would lead to many more people being willing to listen. If i become a competent real time projector in the future it will definitely be something that i'll be looking to do. I appreciate that even for skilled projectors its very difficult to be highly consistent but i think we have to try. Id love to see someone like Robert give it a shot.

I'd like to work with a research group on my energy work stuff if possible myself. I'm a healer and I can often hit the "tears of joy" epiphany state-I want to know what's happening physically when i do these things. And also if scientific methods can give me a biofeedback effect to help me gain even more consistent ability with this.

Right on, both of you.  All of these things need scientific studies.  Particularly with spiritual healing methods, skeptics are fond of mentioning how few scientific studies have been done.

Too many people are held in the thrall of medical theory and treatment.

Concerning healing, I think there already are quite a number of individuals in the scientific community working to find demonstrable evidence. Not a lot, but more than we think, and naturally increasing everyday as the pharmaceutical industry is criticized on other grounds.

The prayer studies at Stanford is a real popular example. And Deepak Chopra MD is undeniably the leader in the western world for Ayurvedic medicine. However, his capabilities are somewhat limited to selling books, speeches, and running a spa, instead of participating in the scientific community. Very enterprising, and not at all a bad thing - if it's working.

AP/LD is definitely a protoscience (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protoscience), but needs more demonstrable evidence and a better theoretical underpinning. I think we are all trying to construct those two things in this forum.
