yep it's about controlling the masses and get their money, nothing else.
you are so right on that. thats why i'm not religious. i'm a thelemic spiritualist.
But isn't Thelema a kind of religion? Doesn't it have a mythology assigned to it, and a code of conduct? (Even "do as you will" is a set of instructions, lol.)
quite the contrary. thelema is a set of moral codes. we do not wish to have dogma of anykind for that in and of itself promotes religion. "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law" is a phraze stating that every man abides by his or her own law. its merely morality.
but i do see your point. but that isnt how it is i'm afraid.
Well let's be real down to the true principals and cores to religion. Not all of it is out for the intent and purposes for power hungry greedy control. During our evolution they provided a great moral basis to help build up civilization. Some of these people or so called "Prohpets" Truly believed God was connecting to them. That's what we all strive for in life to seek beyond the veil of the Uknown. Im not religious in any way but i strongly believe that every religion ultimately leads to the same God one way or another. Matter of fact im agnostic.
That said i dont find a problem with Religion if it fits you, like they all "Life is what you make it." :P

Some people still do. They just don't get religions build up around them or their teachings, because they're not in the right place at the right time with the right kind of zealous followers, or followers after that to twist everything the original person was trying to teach and make it into dogma. ;)
I said this elsewhere today, but i'm gonna say it again.
There comes a time when all traditions must be left behind.
This is true... we humans label it as "death". :)
