Title: Christian Magick
Post by: Rob on September 29, 2003, 12:40:29
Christian magic as I understand it is based on faith entirely. Jesus did everything he did because he had "faith" - presumably in God, most people would think. So healing in Christian cicles is them praying with faith, calling on God to do the work. I find this interesting, how much of it is them doing the real magick through THEIR faith, like Jesus could be have said to have had faith in himself as a vehicle of God, and how much was their own deep belief creating reality.
Extreme Christian magic then are miracles, where you could either say their prayers worked to get God to help them, or simply that they had great Faith.
I dont know about the early Christian church, but this seems to be how Jesus taught it, so that what i would expect.

However, it is possible that since the early church - and especially in the Dark ages where many many occultist books were confiscated and the rest burned (can you say, perhaps even the Great Library which was burned down by an early Catholic bishop and his mob?) - some forms of magick have been kept as secret info. I hear the vatican has "quite" an impressive book collection, much of which is held secret. And the Pope doesn't trust 95% of the vatican....
