Encountering Religious Symbolism in the Astral

Just to get things started I have a few. I haven't seen the other thread, so not sure how this goes.

I had a regular dream, it was a white dream. The dream was located on these temple steps. I got the feel of it being a Roman structure.I've dreamed of large tall columns before.
I had a mystical experience which this Roman looking guy came to my bedside. He had a message that I didn't understand. I can describe this in more detail.

Another vision experience that part of the vision was seeing pine box coffins going to this place by way of this arch (semi-circle because I only saw it in part). Within this path of energy I got the impression that the coffins were going to heaven. The coffins had a twinkling of crosses on some of them in an unexplainable fashion(strange visual effect on my part). The crosses were black.

I have a healing angel (no better name for him) who the last time I saw him in a dream years ago, had a cross (silver) on the front of his shirt.
This was odd because he had always given me the impression of being Hindu.

There may be more, but this is a start I guess. [:)]

Wisp,

Good stuff.  I would like to hear more details about the Roman guy and his message.

As for the crosses...crosses are and have been religious symbols in many different cultures.  It probably has a "universal significance."  My background is not in symbology of any great detail--so please--if anyone else has any other knowledge to share on this, please do.  We could use your help!

What I can do for this is offer what The Acts of John (A Christian Apocrypha) says. (I know that the text is a bit challenging to understand completely, it was just the way they wrote back then, but just read through it and see what it says to you.)

***John had felt compelled to go to a cave high up on the Mount Olives during the crucifixion.  Jesus did not appear to him in bodily form, but rather only his voice was heard.  He had given John a vision of a "cross of light." Jesus then explains the cross to him:

"John there must be one man to hear these things from me; for I need one who is ready to hear. This cross of light is sometimes called logos by me for your sakes, sometimes mind, sometimes Jesus, sometimes Christ, sometimes bread, sometimes a way, sometimes resurrection, sometimes Son, sometimes Father, sometimes Spirit, sometimes life, sometimes Truth, sometimes faith, sometimes grace; and so it is called for men's sakes. But what it truly is, as known in itself and spoken to us, is this:  it is the distinction of all things, and the strong uplifting of what is firmly fixed out of what is unstable, and the harmony of wisdom, being the wisdom in harmony...this cross then is that which has united all things by the logos and which has separated off what is transitory and inferior, which has also compacted all things unto me.  But this is not that wooden cross which you shall see when you go down from here; nor am I the man you see on the cross, I whom now you do not see but only hear my voice.  I was taken to be what I am not, I who am not what for many others I was; but what they will say of me is mean and unworthy of me.  Since then the place of my rest is neither to be seen nor told, much more shall I, the Lord of this place, be neither seen nor told...So then I have suffered none of those things which they will say of me...I will that it be called a mystery...you hear that I suffered, yet I suffered not; and that I suffered not, yet I did suffer; and that I was pierced, yet I was not wounded; that I was hanged, yet I was not hanged; that blood flowed from me, yet it did not flow, and in a word, that what they say of me I did not endure, but what they do not say, those things I did suffer."

And then John writes of himself:
"When he had said these things to me, and others which I know not how to say, he was taken up, without any of the multitude seeing him. And going down I laughed at them all, since he had told me what they had said about him; and I held this one thing fast in my mind, that the Lord had performed everything as a symbol and a dispensation for the conversion and salvation of man."

Wisp, I can certainly comment on some of this, but what do you think about the crosses that you saw, in light of this explanation?

I look forward to your thoughts on this...

Didn't Edgar Cayce talk a lot about this?  I remember seeing something about it before but I think it involved symbolism in the book of revalation and dreams.

Beth

Makaveli,

What I have read from the Cayce texts, I read very early on in my search outside of church doctrine.  So I cannot comment on his symbolism in any detail.

Is anyone else familiar with Cayce's writings enough to elaborate? If so, that would be great!-[:)]

Here's a website showing his dream symbology as well.

Beth,
Wow, some interesting things you have! Yes, please share your thoughts on this. I don't know much about the desciple John.

What do the crosses mean to me?  The only thing I can think of is christian concepts or beliefs. Of course, I can go deeper, and think of the cross of Jesus' crucifixion. This being death, and what his death means. Then this would lead me on to what his death means to me. The meaning of his death changes for me as I learn more. As a child I was relieved to know Jesus did this. It took burdens away I had at the time. What these burdens were(?), I have no idea! I was only 2-3 years old! What did I have to be burdened about? All I know is it did the trick for me. This is why I stuck with the christian faith. Now, years later I move on to wonder what else is this about, on a higher level.

The Roman looking guy wore an off white robe. Before I actually caught sight of him I was asleep. I was awakened with someone touching my stomach. I opened my eyes in enough time to feel a second person touching my stomach. Then opening my eyes, I caught sight of this third person, this Roman looking guy. He was palpating my stomach as if he was giving me a physical like a doctor would do. He then stood upright and said something like, "We're gong to have to have a meeting". He smiled as he said this. I couldn't tell if he was talking to me or someone else. His feet were not on level ground. He walked with his feet being at a lower level that I could not see. He then walked on through the wall and window of the bedroom I had slept in that night.
The only thing I could figure, it may have been about medical condition I had at the time. I later did seek medical care and received treatment of something fairly simple. My hormones were out of balance.

curiousgirl and makevali were discussing this on another thread.  I think it is a great topic to explore.

I know I have a few things to share...but why don't some of you go first???[8D]
