I confirmed it biblicly through several verses. I will post the verse locations and then explain...
Genesis 2:7 - Man BECAME a living soul
Genesis 3:4 - The serpents' lie
Psalm 146:4 - His thoughts will perish
Ecclesiastes 9:5 - Dead not know ANY thing
Ecclesiastes 9:10 - The grave
Dan 12:2 - Sleeping in the dust
Matthew 10:28 - Jesus says our souls CAN be destryoed
(Drumroll) John 3:16 - If all souls are immortal and you either goto heaven or hell(to burn forever) then why do those not believe in Jesus perish, as in cease to be?
By these many verses, sounds like the Evangelical ideals for the Christian faith are ill-founded. According to the text, not traditions of men, we are all LIVING SOULS, and go back into the dust and earth from which we came UNTIL the ressurection(which hasn't happened yet, 'duh').
I posted this because I'm sick and tired of EC's telling people to accept Jesus or burn in hell forever. Even worse is the idea of scaring kids into this as well. I find this terribly disgusting to say the least. I call this form of converting "Spirtual Blackmail". Either you worship MY God or burn in hell forever.
There are only THREE hell's in the old and new testament.
1) Sheol: The grave for us living souls to go, BOTH the righteous and the wicked.
2) The bottomless pit for the renegade angels.
3) Gehenna: All consuming fire from god that burns sould from the inside till turned to ash and that soul is no more.
Only AFTER the ressurection do we get transformed into the spiritual form, and then we are judged and either eternal life, or eternal nothing.
Sure the story is a bit more complicated than that, but that's the uber-nutshell of it. Confirm this yourself everyone, If you're gonna have a religion based off of scriptured text, at least be accurate about it.
Btw, I'm not an EC, or christian. Though I feel Jesus is one of the ascended spirtual masters.

Either that or everyone that has seen this post is ignoring it. Still glad to post it either way-
the word soul in the bible is a mistranslation of the greek word psuche meaning "life" (more or less). In fact the same word is translated in the bible as life in other passages but then later translated as "soul".
It's a lil too early in the morning for me to get a bible and check out those scriptures, but I'm looking forward to doing so later. ^.^ If what you said is true, I might print those scriptures off and carry around a bible with me, just so I can show em to the next EC that tries to convert me. ^.^
