Hi everyone. I recently read Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein and, was wondering about the Church of All Worlds that was created in it. I found out that there is a real church by that name and I would like to know more about it. Thanks

I love me some Heinlein. "Friday" is awesome.

However, I always wondered about the connection between Heinlein & L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology and the religion in "Stranger in a Strange Land". This was interesting to read:

When I was very young and read all Heinlein, Hubbard and Asimov, I remember reading about this in a theoretical way in one of the Foundation books.  It was part of the plot, a anthropological dissertation on the state of humanity in history, and the idea of starting a religion as a means to make money was explored.  This was before I had heard of scientology- this was in the stories themselves.  Maybe it's unrelated, but I doubt it.  Back in the days all these guys hung out together.  Maybe that's why the wager story is so easy to believe.

first I would like to thank everyone for the input. I think that the CAW kind of fell apart, and it seems to have strayed a little from the book.

Yeah, the group that sprung from the book was far from the one described by Heinlein, and was considered to mainly be a sex-cult.

This topic reminded me of this band  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCy13kjj13M
It used to be my favorite song.  I used to play it really loud on my way to church.

I love 90's music and videos- here's another good one, although somewhat less obscure

Reminds me of being a kid... and I dunno... the commercial music of that time was so much better than today...
