I have come across some observations which depict an interesting correlation between God and light in the major world religions....

In Hinduism, the Vedas and Hindu scriptures considers the Shivalingam as representing a cosmic pillar of light. An another name for the Shivalingam is 'Jyotirlingam' with 'Jyoti' meaning light in sanskrit.

The Dharmic monotheistic sect the Prajapita Brahmakumaris consider God to be a point of light.

The Upanishads and enlightened masters have also described Brahman to be self-luminous.

In Islam, Allah has 100 name's, and one of them is Alnoor ( the Light).

"God is light," says 1 John 1:5, in the Bible in Christianity.

In Judaism, Psalm 76:4 says of God, "You are radiant with light."

So this correlation between God and light, is a common denominator in these four major world religions.

Imo, the fire worship in Zoroastrianism may be illustrating this correlation between God (Ahura Mazda ) and light as well, light being emitted by the fire.

I would say this may provide more proof that the major world religions are identical in their core, with only superficial differences on the outside creating cause for extremism and conflict. If you find any further proofs or evidences in this regard, please do share it here.

Thanking in advance.  :-)

Yes, the core underlying  basis of almost every religion and Spiritual tradition, with the exception of some orthodox religions, conceptualize God in a similar way, although the clergy and congregations often do not or will not recognise this. The primary characteristic religious texts attribute to God, is that of Infinite Love. Many, as you have noted, also relate to God as The Light, and to this we can also include Absolute Perfection. Many religious texts also recognise the truth that God, Source is All That IS, and therefore we are all One with God and with each other.

Christianity: "Neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of Heaven is within you". -- Luke 17:21

Islam: "Those who know themselves know their God".

Buddhism: "Look within, thou art Buddha".

Vedanta, part of Hinduism: "Atman (individual Consciousness) and Brahman (Universal Consciousness) are one".

Upanishads, part of Hinduism: "By understanding the self, all this Universe is known".

Yoga, part of Hinduism: "God dwells within you as you".

Confucianism: "Heaven, Earth and human are of one body".

Christianity: "On that day, you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you". -- John 14:20

Blind men and an elephant

QuoteA group of blind men heard that a strange animal, called an elephant, had been brought to the town, but none of them were aware of its shape and form. Out of curiosity, they said: "We must inspect and know it by touch, of which we are capable". So, they sought it out, and when they found it they groped about it. The first person, whose hand landed on the trunk, said, "This being is like a thick snake". For another one whose hand reached its ear, it seemed like a kind of fan. As for another person, whose hand was upon its leg, said, the elephant is a pillar like a tree-trunk. The blind man who placed his hand upon its side said the elephant, "is a wall". Another who felt its tail, described it as a rope. The last felt its tusk, stating the elephant is that which is hard, smooth and like a spear.

"The tale later became well known in Europe, with 19th-century American poet John Godfrey Saxe creating his own version as a poem, with a final verse that explains that the elephant is a metaphor for God, and the various blind men represent religions that disagree on something no one has fully experienced."

... or, that agree on something ...

Interesting metaphor.

The Hindu religion has a whole pantheon of deities, each representing a different aspect of the one supreme being which they call Brahman.

Hi baro-san! And Ajay! I didn't realize you guys were here at the astral pulse as well.  :-) This is cloud potato from the reincarnationforum.

Ajay, I was astounded to realize the Peacock Angel was the same Being with different names from different cultures.

At present I am considering a type of overseer personality. At one point I felt the lore of fallen angels was something we all shared, whether we realize it or not.

And the story of the Peacock Angel, while we are incarnate here- his story is our Story. These were just thoughts I had at one point.

But you would be amazed to see how this Being is Alive in so many differing cultures.

What does it mean? To me, it means that Spirit is Alive. Truth is Living. God is Living. Our relationship with God is constant.

I am also of the belief, of course it is just a belief- and it is a choice, that we may progress ever Godward. To make that realization reality, to live it- be it, see it, feel it... It is a type of evolution.

Evolution? Yes, I choose this belief. I agree, we all see what we see. And that is OK, that is beautiful. I also agree, this may not be the totality of what IS. That is okay too.

And yet what we see is just as real as the other! What a tragedy it is, to see us chastise each other and condemn our fellow Brothers and Sisters because we fear their expressions. Because we are so proud of what we have learned, to feel so close to our Beloved God- and yet, here is the very same... and we have a history of casting the very thing we worship down.

Yes, we are evolving. I believe this is only a portion of existence. And everywhere, within and all around is God. The many, and yet. The One.
