I believe no one can say whit certainty that the bible is the word of god, for the simple reason there is no proof of that, it could have been written by a few intelligent men. Still it could be partly true or who knows maybe it was inspired by a "god", there is enough between heaven and earth for the possibility that it was influenced by an outside source.

I think there is a real possibly Jesus existed, but I doubt it was the person who died on the cross described in the bible, I think he was a wise person trying to help others. I think your right to think the story of Jesus the person is probable changed a lot and used by Church for their own benefit.

I think a god could exist, it hasn't god anything to do whit the bible, Christianity doesn't have monopoly on god, but I think the term god has been misused a lot. Would you call life force (the driving force behind all life) god or is god the being who created the universe, should these two have the same name?

When I think of The God, I think of the idea that something can really contain everything; life, the universe, us, everything we understand and don't understand, philosophy and its answers, good and evil both, essentially everything. The thing is though, this God is not just the container, but the stuff inside it too, so really you can see god if you know how to look at the rock properly, because the rock is part of God. I think the idea of being created in it's image is the act of being intelligent life (and our soul/spirit), not so much the physical form.

copied each other? tell me then, if you and three other people witnessed a car accident, wouldn't you all say basically the same thing (just in your own words)? same thing with the bible, if those people really were with jesus then it only stands to reason that they'd each say at least some things that the others said ^_^

I believe in the teachings of Christ, and I also believe that the Bible very well could have changed over the years.  However if the Bible is in fact true one must believe that Christ would not have allowed His message to get distorted.  He would not have done so much in His life for all of humanity only to have His story written wrong.  But, naturally, man is fallable, and it's because there are so many different versions of the Bible it can be difficult to believe in it.  But we have the gift of the holy spirit who tells us of the truthfulness of gospels and teachings.  Listen and trust the voice within and you will be able to desern fact from fiction.

I think too that the copying part is understandable, that also means their is one sort of higher power, because they(different religions)have pretty much in common. I would call "GOd" as "higher power". It exists on a level, but we don't know so much about It that we can say something certain, now can we??

There is a book called The Rock of Truth by Arthur Findlay which I would recommend. The following link will take you to a "sticky" topic with a great deal of information along the lines of this topic.

Just as a follow-up. This post might be better suited to our "religion" forums. However, the Astral Chat forum is pretty wide open topic wise. If Master of Puppets would like to shift the topic to a religion forum just let me (or another moderator) know.

I tend to disagree that he would not have let his story been written wrong. If he would have wanted it written RIGHT he would have dictated the words to his pupils what to write. You must also remember that the bible was written for THAT age, which is 2000 years ago. Now think about it, how much does change in 2000 years?? I still only think that the writings are just a MINOR part in a prophets life. It is the Manifestation of God into physical reality which really matters. So you can think about it how much a person like Jesus radiates knowledge&truth&love during his life time.

I also think that it was very much meant to be distorted. Someone prophezised that the secrets of the Bible will unfold only in the very end of the Old Era (2012 deadline?). Still if you think of the impacts Christianity has had on the western culture. It is probably because of that we are so scientific that we are today, which is not completely bad imo.

I also tend to think that the course is already set and _NOTHING_ can stop it, because that would mean to go against the Nature of the very universe itself. Now think also how nature works, it ALWAYS try to spare as much energy as possible. So if we take a Lightning for example, it is a fractal that always seeks the paths which take least energy through the air. Now apply the same principles to change something from A to B.

Do you belive in God or anything the Bible tells you? Do you believe that Jesus performed miracles? Do you even beileve in a God?

The bible was written many years after Jesus death and the story could of changed by a lot,(like the game "telephone" , which you may of played as a child and usually the massage changes a lot by the time it get to the last person) and the synoptic gospels each of them copied each other but put it in their own words.(so those 3 really didnt have a good memory of what jesus did and copied each other or they decided that they might as well copy the other one because thats what they were going to write) Except John's gospel which is unlike the other ones and also the last one written.
